Candles come in such beautiful vessels, it can be hard to part with them after the last fragrant burn runs out. Give them new life—as a container for your cotton balls, an adorable plant pot or even your secret stash of M&M's! Here's how to get that last bit of wax out of the bottom of your candles so you can repurpose the jars.

When you've used up all the wax and the candle won't light anymore, stick the candle in the freezer. The next day (or at least 4 hours later), gently take a butter knife and pop out the remaining wax. Normally, it comes out in one piece. Sometimes you have to dig it out in multiple pieces.

In a small saucepan, bring an inch of water to a simmer. Place the candle jar in the water with tongs and hold it down (it will try to float). Melt the last remnants of wax and dump it out in the trash—NOT the sink!

Wipe the jar out with a clean towel and the inside is ready to go.
