When I was in my 20’s and early 30’s I used to roll my eyes at the health fanatics. I mean, who wants to live like that?! Going to the gym, watching what you eat, going to bed at a reasonable time. Why would anyone want to live a life of missing out? What I didn’t realize at the time was not only is a healthy lifestyle NOT missing out but offered a much more abundant life!
Through my 20’s and in the process of having my 4 kids my health started a steady decline. I ended up with an adrenal tumor that really messed me up and a spinal tumor that left me without feeling in my legs. After a lot of research, I came upon a natural solution. This required extreme diligence for a year. After 4 months I was able to feel my legs again. After a year my MRI showed that the tumor was completely gone, the bone grew itself back.
I started working out and I loved fitness so much that I decided to make it my profession so I could help others overcome their physical limitations. I used various fitness modalities which increased my strength but left me with the same nerve issues and difficulty with coordination, specifically in my left leg. Being diagnosed with Lupus complicated matters pertaining to my joints, muscles, lungs, heart, among other things left me feeling depleted. I was no longer able to keep lifting heavy or run. Enter Pilates!! Little did I know how much it would fix my body! I was even able to get off my blood pressure medication. Pilates benefits those who have Lupus by enabling the person to experience greater and more expansive mobility in their joints while not exhausting them. We go to the point of activation then back off. So, while other workouts made me feel like I needed to take a nap afterwards, Pilates left me feeling strong, flexible and like my body was at peace.
Wellness is a life full of abundance and I’m excited to share that at the IACP International Wellness Conference in California next March. I would have never thought resolving my health issues could help so many and I wouldn’t have it any other way! Be well.
