Edward Jones Financial Advisor Opens Newtown Office To Assist Clients, Colleagues, Communities, Society

One of the most important things a financial professional can do for clients is help them avoid making choices based solely on emotions or fears, says Dan Petty, Edward Jones financial advisor, who just opened a branch office at 2134 S. Eagle Road in Newtown.

"We serve as a trusted partner and guide in each financial decision our clients make," assures Dan.

Among investors who work with a financial advisor, 84% stated doing so gave them a greater sense of comfort about their finances during the pandemic, according to a survey from Age Wave and Edward Jones.

This local grand opening occurred on the very same day the FORTUNE 500 firm celebrated its 100th business anniversary.

"Our branch teams, like this new one led by Dan, are critical to how we make a difference for those we serve, to our ability to help create brighter futures for clients. While our number of branches has grown and our technology has changed, the personal experience we deliver still sets us apart," says Edward Jones Managing Partner Penny Pennington, who flew in from the firm's St. Louis corporate headquarters to attend the Newtown grand opening. "Just as we’re committed to Dan’s new office, we’re committed to making positive impacts for our clients, colleagues, communities and society."

Penny says Edward Jones clients are raising the bar for what they expect. "The guidance we provide to our clients often intersects with their goals for their health, family, their own purpose, as well as their finances. You might use the word 'well-being' to describe what we're talking to clients about. They’re seeking financial advisors who understand the way they think about their goals now and who have longer-term pictures in mind, coaching them to and through life’s phases and complexity."

Knowledge requires understanding and guidance, weighing complex tradeoffs and developing financial and non-financial solutions," she says.

"On the other hand, empathy requires deep, personal relationships, paired with intuitive listening skills that show a desire to understand clients’ needs. The work we do matters – and is needed more than ever," she adds.

Their vision for the future is about creating new value for those they serve, she says. "We've evolved our value promise to meet the more complex needs our clients have today because they have more holistic expectations. To deliver on this promise, our financial advisors combine knowledge and empathy to serve clients in a personalized way."

Penny shares that one client stated:  “You have the sophistication to deal with our money, and the heart to deal with us."

Since Edward D. Jones Sr. opened the doors of the firm 100 years ago, the company's focus has been helping people connect to their own purpose and achieve things in their lives they might not have known were possible. Penny says purpose always has been a priority at Edward Jones. "That purpose is our why, and it’s all about helping people connect to their own goals and achieve things they might not have otherwise thought were possible," she adds.

One of the distinctive notations about the way Edward Jones has grown the firm's impact is that they chose to be local on a North American scale, says Penny. "We live and work alongside those we serve. We have a local branch location in more than two-thirds of the counties in the U.S."

Penny says Edward Jones' professionals pride themselves on making positive impacts one person, one colleague and one community at a time.

Edward Jones’ teams provides financial services in the U.S. and, through its affiliate, in Canada. The firm’s nearly 19,000 financial advisors serve more than 7 million clients with a total of $1.8 trillion in assets under care.

DAN'S TIPS FOR

approaching savings for variety of reasons

Keep it simple. For every financial goal, ask the following five questions:

  1. Where am I today?

  2. Where would I like to be?

  3. Can I get there?

  4. How do I get there?

  5. How can I stay on track?

Because every person has unique financial goals, circumstances, savings habits, interests and comfort with risk – and because these factors are constantly changing as life evolves -- Dan says he uses an established process to understand specific needs of each client and to provide a human-centered approach to develop a custom-tailored strategy.

"Our personalized approach with investment strategies is as individual as each client is, which is why they can feel confident as we work toward reaching those goals and navigating life’s ups and downs," he says. "It's a privilege to be invited into my clients' lives, and work with them to grow and protect their wealth and help them provide for future generations."
