Many people have decided to start growing their own food during this time. If you're new to gardening, there are a few things you should know before you get your hands dirty. The hardiness zone you live in (see map below) dictates which seeds you should plant and when. Here are just a few of the veggies you should plant in July.

Beans (Zones 3-8)

Both bush and pole beans love warm soil and air, so you can still plant them in July. Try a continual 7-10 day sowing of different varieties. This will give you continual bean crops for a fall harvest.

Corn (Zones 3-8)

Start with a small plot of corn plants and work your way to a larger plot of several varieties (if you have room). The last date to plant any corn is the first week of July, and it must be an early maturing corn variety.
