Interior Essentials - Your Style in Your Budget

Bette & Mike Hudman share their stunning new home interior created in partnership with Interior Essentials and designer Angela Hirst

From color palettes and decorating materials to room sizes, lighting and budget, there are many factors that need to be considered when creating the ideal overall ambience and look of your home. A significant challenge many homeowners face is a difficulty in defining their personal interior design style. With the overwhelming abundance of options, it can be daunting to decipher which style will work best for you. A great starting point for any interior design project is to envision the feeling you want to have when you are in each room. "That’s where I started with clients Bette and Mike Hudman, who recently purchased a stunning new home by David Weekly in the brand-new Mesa neighborhood of Eastmark". states Hirst.

Angela Hirst is an intrinsic part of the award-winning design team that can be found at locally owned Interior Essentials. "The greatest joy I have as a designer is to see the happiness on my clients’ faces after I have helped bring their vision to life." After nearly three decades in the residential and commercial interior design industry in the U.K., Canada and now here in Arizona, Hirst passion for design continues to burn bright. "I look forward to working with each new client. While in Vancouver, I had the pleasure to work with a few celebrities on their homes."

One of the many benefits of working with an interior designer, is that they help their clients to perfect their vision, put it into words, and bring it to life. “I worked closely with Bette to determine her goals, consider the best use and flow of the space and specified the materials, furnishings, and window coverings that would allow us to achieve their ideal look.” Bette and Mike came to realize that a neutral color palette with cool undertones would be best suited to create the contemporary, fresh look they both desired for their home. Angela worked closely with Jonathan Leyva from JH Stone Works who installed the beautiful Rock Ridge Ledger Stone (color: Beachwalk) in the dining area of the great room. This brought depth and dimension to the room and flows well with the Hunter Douglas window shadings that were selected.  Motorized silhouette shades in sagebrush are used throughout the home providing a modern, yet delicate backdrop to each room.

Continuity of flow throughout the home was of utmost importance and the soft and subtle color choice allows for that. Featured in their stunning and spacious office are two elegant chairs and a large sofa in a grey weave texture by Ralph M, imported from France. The chairs and sofa are available for sale at Interior Essentials Gilbert location. Angel worked closely with Ashley Fabbri and Sharman Coombs from Ethan Allen, who provided decor for the built-in bookcase in the office. A carefully selected assortment of decorative items, side tables and table lamps brought the room together beautifully. In the guest bedroom, Bette and Mike chose a calming turquoise color palette, which gave the room a comfortable and inviting feel. The custom Interior Essentials blackout drapery provides the perfect environment to get a great night’s sleep.

“The bright and airy mudroom was a delight to decorate”, Hirst mused. The family worked with Angela to create a functional space that was still an aesthetically pleasing environment, as it is the garage entry into the home that flows straight into the kitchen and main living area. A fabric upholstered bench seat cushion in a soft shade of turquoise complement the patterned roman shades on the adjacent wall. Wicker baskets from Ethan Allen fit perfectly under the bench to make a practical use of the space. Hirst finished off the room with a Dash and Albert runner for the full length of the area, a hard-wearing micro-hooked wool material perfect for high traffic areas.
