They love Patsy Cline and her music. She was the first country-western star to cross over to pop. I love shows that have crossover appeal. I love a big, wide, diverse audience. “The Prom” had a big, wide, diverse audience. 'Always...Patsy Cline' and 'Jersey Boys' brings in that kind of crowd.”
Jack said, “I’m really happy to bring back 'Always...Patsy Cline' and I’m thrilled that it is going to be the first professional production that opens the performing arts center. Zoe Vonder Haar is repeating her role as Louise Seger and Diana DeGarmo of American Idol is absolutely sensational as Patsy Kline. This is our first real celebrity doing a show with us and she has been an absolute delight.”
“'Always…Patsy Cline' was such a big hit eight years ago that we had to renovate the
Playhouse at Westport and transfer the show to that stage. It ran for 6 months,” recalled Jack. “It was the first time in St. Louis history that a show was moved from its original run. It was a classic case of people saying it’s never going to happen so don’t try doing it. That motivates me.”
Jack said Stages Artistic Director Michael Hamilton “made 'Always...Patsy Cline' come alive in a way that I’ve never seen it come alive before.”
"Always…Patsy Cline" runs from August 6 – September 5.
"Jersey Boys" runs from September 24 – October 24.
