Perhaps the most challenging aspect of staying at The Inn at Perry Cabin is what to choose among its countless offerings of fun, dining, and activities. Nestled along the Chesapeake Bay in the charming town of St. Michael’s on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, the Inn occupies 26 acres overlooking the Miles River. One option would be to shed one’s luggage and join other guests at 5 p.m. at the Inn’s Pointe. There you can toast the flag out front with a glass of cheer, echoing the Navy battle cry of the War of 1812: “Don’t Give Up the Ship."

Following this daily ritual you can relax with a drink on the patio with a fire pit or sit in one of the many Adirondack chairs enjoying the calming waterfront. The spectacular view was captured in “The Wedding Crashers” movie, an unforgettable scene of hijinks taking place in the Inn’s elegant setting. You may spot geese and ducks while there, or even an egret or bald eagle. According to Michael B. Hoffman, the managing director of the Inn, “There’s something unique to see in every cove.”

If you’re hungry for a light dinner you can wander over to the Inn’s casual Purser’s Pub and sample pub favorites before retiring to your room, enjoying the old-world charm of the rooms that offer the amenities of a modern hotel.

The following day is when hard decisions must be made: Do you participate in a tennis match on one of the Inn’s green Har-Tru courts, try out the pool, enjoy croquet and bocce, or enjoy the charms of the spa with its offerings of luxurious massages and facials, a steam room and even nail services? And don’t forget the fitness center with its state-of-the-art equipment. The Inn offers tours of its lush gardens where guests can enjoy viewing Perry Cabin’s many hydrangeas, Crepe myrtle trees, wildflowers, native plant species, and more.

In addition to all the activities listed above the Inn offers two other outstanding features: fine dining and golf on a magnificent course.

The culinary offerings of the Inn make it a destination in and of itself. In addition to the aforementioned Purser’s Pub, the Inn boasts the area’s only four-star restaurant, aptly named Stars. Like the pub it's located inside the main building, but has seating outside as well.

Gregory James, the Inn’s executive chef, has been there since 2019 using his experience and expertise to create an entirely new guest dining experience. He has won countless accolades and awards during his 30 years in the culinary business. In 2022 he received the “Chef of the Year” award from the Restaurant Association of Maryland.

Chef Greg is a strong believer in using ingredients sourced locally— including seafood from local waterways, regional dairy farm cheese, neighboring vegetable gardens, as well as the Inn’s very own bounty. The well-regarded chef focuses on a sustainable approach to modern cuisine – once oysters are used the shells get thrown back into the bay. He has also established close relationships with local farmers, artisans, and watermen. When the fishermen at Wittman’s Wharf from Annapolis come in with their daily catch, the first person they call is Chef Greg, who then serves it to lucky diners later that same day.

Finally, many fortunate visitors choose the Inn for intimate ceremonies or vast celebrations. To find out more visit innatperrycabin.com or call (800) 219-2374.
