What started as a prayer, now a reality, Studio 1:9 Salon has quickly branded itself as not just a well-known, trendsetting salon in Gallatin, but also as a place for people from all walks of life to come together. Owner Jordyn Clark has intentionally cultivated a place that is relationship-driven and puts people first.  As Studio 1:9’s leading lady, we caught up with Jordyn to hear her take on what makes Studio 1:9 such a special place.

How did Studio 1:9 get its start and what was the inspiration behind the name? Opening a salon was never something I wanted, but the Lord laid it on my heart and I had to listen. Our name comes from a Bible verse that has changed my life: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you, wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).

What’s your favorite part about what you do? The relationships! Although I love doing hair and making people feel beautiful, I believe beauty starts within. I love walking through life with my clients; I tell each of them I love them when they walk out the door, because it is true with every word!

What are some current trends you are seeing in the industry? Trends change so often, but it’s also fun to see past trends come back in style! The perm is a big one! It’s also super fun to see clients dancing in our lobby and then seeing the finished product later go viral on Tik Tok!

What services and offerings set Studio 1:9 apart from other area salons? We are one of the few salons in the area that offers hand-tied extensions and Brazilian blowouts. Most of our stylists are certified in different brands so we can accommodate any hair type/texture.

What’s your favorite part about your space/studio? It’s a safe and beautiful place, but it’s so much more! While we pride ourselves on Christian values, we believe that our space should be used to love anyone and everyone! Whether you are the CEO of a major company, or living in your car, or simply needing to feel good, you will be treated the same and this is the place for you to feel that.

What other causes or areas is Studio 1:9 passionate about? Our mission is to be the hands and feet of our community. Although we work with several organizations, my personal favorite is Fostering Hope, where we help provide Christmas for foster children across Sumner County.

Can you tell us about your team? They are the best part! I’m so intentional about who we bring on for a reason. Every one of our team members has been such a blessing to so many people and they all bring something so different.

How do you envision the future and what’s on the horizon for Studio 1:9? We are just getting started! We are currently working on a program to bring in younger, aspiring stylists who need training to help them learn and grow so they can start their own businesses. Long term, we want all of our stylists to be successful in everything they do–it’s all about people!
