Josh Turner Serves a Savior on New Album

Country Crooner Sings His Favorite Hymns

Multi-platinum-selling country singer Josh Turner added a new dimension to his already acclaimed career: a gospel album.

"My priority, up until now, has been to establish myself as a country artist, and I feel like I've done that," Josh says. "But I've always wanted to do a gospel record, and my fans have been asking for one for a long time."

About Josh Turner's New Album: I Serve a Savior

I Serve a Savior is a faith-based collection that includes hand-picked hymns, alongside brand-new originals and live recordings of some of Josh’s most memorable hits, including “Me and God” and “Long Black Train.” The new album even includes a special song penned by his wife, Jennifer, and eldest son, Hampton, “The River (of Happiness).” The pair also sings on the track along with Josh’s three other boys.

"The best part of my family being involved is that it's not forced. They are all musically talented," he says.

Josh Turner: Fame, Work and Family

In addition to being a Grammy nominee, Josh is one of the youngest members of the Grand Ole Opry and previously acted in a film on evangelical Billy Graham's life. But the baritone singer is clear about his acting aspirations.

"It's not something I'm actively pursuing," he says. "I'd rather just sing. That's what I've always wanted to do. And making a record is my favorite part of my job."

The father of four boys can also call himself an author. Man Stuff: Thoughts on Faith, Family and Fatherhood is about how to be a stronger, more effective dad, family man and man of God.

When asked about his best fatherly advice, he says, "You just need to enjoy it. It seems like yesterday my first child was born, and now he's 12. It literally flies by. They grow up extremely fast."
