Susan Edstrom began her nonprofit, Four Paws One Heart Inc. because she wanted to give animals a voice.

“Animals have no voice. They have no one to speak for them. I like being their voice,” she says of her mission. After helping part-time staff at the Trophy Club Animal Shelter for many years (she is currently president of its Board), Susan did some pet rescue on a small scale. Then in 2019 Four Paws One Heart Inc. officially incorporated as a 501 c3. She estimates the organization has rescued almost 900 kittens, cats, puppies and dogs since its founding.

Susan is proud of Trophy Club residents for the ways they’ve stepped up to adopt, foster and rescue pets. “We have a wonderful, animal-friendly community,” she says.
