How to help Love-A-Stray Dog Rescue

If you're looking to make a positive impact and be a part of something truly special, here are some friendly and practical ways to help Love-A-Stray Dog Rescue.

Love-A-Stray Dog Division is a foster-based rescue and does not have a shelter. All dogs are completely vetted and evaluated by a trainer prior to adoption.

What is your most important need/wishlist?  Our greatest need is foster homes. Without a foster network, we cannot continue rescuing dogs. We need a safe, loving environment as we search for a new forever home. Love-A-Stray provides all supplies needed for the foster dog program.

What event/fundraiser are you looking forward to? One of our largest fundraisers is the Annual Strikes for Strays.   February 25th, 2024 at Spevock's Nautical Lanes in Avon Lake. It has grown into a great event with amazing raffles, bowling, food and FUN. You do not need to be a bowler to participate in the raffles and enjoy this family-friendly fundraiser.

How do you apply to adopt/foster? We are always searching for foster homes, volunteers and adopters. Donations are also greatly appreciated.  Volunteer, foster and adoption applications can be found on our website    http://www.loveastraydog.com/

In 2004, Connie Field and a few dog-loving friends started helping the city of Avon Lake care for their dog kennel. "We reached out to Love-A-Stray Cat Rescue, based in Avon, and asked if they were interested in starting a non-profit Dog Division.”  They formed a volunteer group in Avon Lake. Fast forward 19 years later, they help all neighboring communities.
