Greenwich Health & Wellness Spotlight: Cassandra Rizzo

How she plans to kick off her goals in 2024!

You're an instructor at Club Sweat, tell us a little bit about why you love that workout and what made you decide to become an instructor?

CR: I had been going to Club Sweat for years before becoming an instructor and really fell in love with the classes. The short, 45-minute, full body workout has your heart pumping, body sweating, and since I could easily fit it into a busy schedule, I quickly got hooked! As a class attendee, I was inspired by the instructors and their balance of pushing the class to its limits but doing so in a fun, fast-paced environment.

I guess I was so inspired, I later became an instructor myself! I wanted to share my love of the workout and hopefully motivate others working towards their fitness goals, the same way my instructors had motivated me. Club Sweat has an amazing and supportive community of instructors and members that I'm proud to be a part of.

What is your favorite spot to pick up a healthy snack/meal?

CR: The lemon ginger tea from Aux Délices is amazing. I highly recommend the curry chicken salad sandwich from Something Natural, or anything from Green & Tonic!

What is your favorite way to unwind?

CR: For me, it’s actually the way I begin each day. I wake up early, put on calming music, light a candle, and take time to pray and reflect on all that I’m grateful for. In a world that has our attention pulled in every direction, I find it very grounding to start my day this way and help keep a positive perspective. After a long day or a tough workout, I also love a hot Epsom salt bath!

What are your health & wellness goals for 2024?

CR: As simple as it sounds, my primary health and wellness goal for 2024 is working towards a strong and nourished mind and body. I started 2023 with a new year resolution to say “yes” to everything that brings joy and opportunities for personal growth. With that mindset, I’ve leaned into what is most fulfilling and have also found it increasingly simple to identify and remove what doesn’t feel additive towards my personal goals. From a fitness perspective, aside from being an instructor at Club Sweat, I also strength train at Iron Camp in Greenwich. Getting and feeling stronger has been so rewarding and I look forward to continuing that progress in 2024!
