Taking the Plunge

Rest Recovery Wellness runs hot and cold.

Laryssa and Ryan Sonberg are Queen Creek residents who have been running their Rest Recovery Wellness location since October of 2023. Originally their business sold saunas, cold plunge tubs, and other therapeutic equipment before providing a one stop clinic for anyone wanting to experience these wellness therapies. Ryan has a history in fitness, and Laryssa comes from a nursing background. Together they understand how the body works and what it needs to recover and heal. Many of their clients are athletes, people recovering from injuries or surgeries, or even those who want to boost their immune system.

Upon entering, most people will spend about an hour to go through the entire process. A typical visit will begin with 10-15 minutes wearing compression boots that help with lymphatic massage and circulation. Afterwards you will sit in the cold plunge for 2-3 minutes before getting in the warmth of the sauna at about 150 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes. This is called contrast therapy. The cold water, at about 50 degrees Fahrenheit, improves circulation, boosts your mood, and supports weight loss. Meanwhile, the sauna helps to detoxify, relax, and even aid pain relief.

Finally you spend about 10 minutes in red light therapy which can penetrate 2-3 layers of your skin. This particular therapy can help heal wounds, fight the effects of aging, inflammation, overall skin health, and sleep quality. The benefits of these various approaches is useful to anyone who wants to facilitate their recovery or looking to boost their energy and mood.

Laryssa and Ryan provide a soothing, spa-like environment too. They provide memberships but also drop-in rates and the first trial visit is free. So if you are looking to add something new when it comes to your health or you are curious to learn more, visit Rest Recovery Wellness at www.restrecoverywellness.com
