The Actress Next Door

Erin Cahill shares her background, career highlights, and why she loves living in Nashville.

Erin Cahill is an actress who has won the hearts of many adoring fans through her wide and varied work in film and television (chances are you recognize her either as the pink Power Ranger or from the many Lifetime or Hallmark movies she’s starred in). Cahill was born and raised in Virginia, went to school in New York, pursued her career in LA, and now calls Nashville her home. Read on to learn more about our superstar neighbor.

(1) How did you get into acting and how young were you when you got your first gig?

I started acting when I was four years old. I got so lucky because my mom was teaching and directing theater at a local high school and needed a child for two places. Ever since I did that first play, I decided that’s what I wanted to do with my life! I started doing theater and got into film and television when I was a teenager. I moved to Los Angeles when I was 19 and got my first job as a Power Ranger when I was 20. I’m so grateful for it to have been my job ever since!

(2) What has been one of your favorite projects and why?

Oh my goodness, there are so many answers to that question. The first one that comes to mind is the first series regular and the job that kicked off my career – Power Rangers! Getting to play the pink Power Ranger was iconic and to this day, I have the very best fans in the world from it.

(3) If you could speak to younger girls about your career, what are some tips or advice you would lend?

I absolutely love this question. I would say that a long career will have peaks and valleys. I have found that in order to ride those waves, having faith and belief will get you through – faith and belief in yourself and your path.

(4) Where do you see your career in 5 years?

I see myself working and growing, with gratitude and joy. Also, producing and telling great stories from both sides of the camera.

(5) How do you like living in Nashville and what are some of your favorite spots?

Living in Nashville is fantastic. A big city, but somehow it feels like such a community and so intimate. I love the people and love the nature. I love the East Side and Shelby Park, and also love venturing outside the city to explore the woods and find bodies of water. And, I could talk all day about the bars and restaurants!

(6) Random Rapid-Fire Questions

  • Favorite drink?

Sparkling water, followed closely by a martini!

  • Favorite Hallmark movie?

I honestly can’t choose. It’s like picking a favorite child! But so far the ones that are the dearest to my heart would be the ones I produced. They are truly my babies!

  • Favorite dinner spot?

Our go-to whenever we have guests in town is Butcher & Bee!  It was one of the first reasons I fell in love with Nashville.

  • What is one of your nicknames?

Sometimes my friends call me by my last name, Cahill. And my husband and I call each other, ‘Charlie,’ so that’s what a lot of our friends know us as too.

  • Who is your hero?

My mom, my dad, and my grandma.

Where have you seen her?

Looking at her filmography, the more appropriate question is, where haven’t you seen her? She’s had parts in big films, such as The Pursuit of Happyness, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 & 3, The Watcher, and two of the latest installments of Resident Evil (Vendetta and Death Island). As for television, if you don’t know her as the pink Power Ranger from Power Rangers Time Force, surely you would have seen her in Cold Case, CSI: Miami, Supernatural, How I Met Your Mother, Grey’s Anatomy, General Hospital, Monk, The Mentalist, House, or Bones. She’s also starred in a bevy of Lifetime and Hallmark movies. In addition to being seen in movies and television, she can be heard in several video games, including 2012’s Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
