Whether you spell them donuts or doughnuts, these breakfast staples are a fixture around Orlando. There are so many places around town to get a great donut, but here is our list of the top five places to get the best donuts in Orlando.

The Salty Donut

The newest entrant to the Orlando donut scene is The Salty Donut, or "The Salty." This shop started in South Florida and has had a cult following. The Salty has several varieties that are considered "always" donuts, aka they will always be available - traditional glazed, guava and cheese, coquito, and maple and bacon among them. Then, they have a rotating slew of "sometimes" donuts available seasonally. If you have your heart set on a certain flavor, plan on getting there early or pre-order because once they sell out, they sell out.

DG Doughnuts

This is a prime example of don't judge a book by its cover. DG Doughnuts is a local gem and it's located inside of a gas station. Whether you use their drive-thru or walk in, you'll be amazed at the beautiful creations this small, family-owned business pumps out. Flavors rotate weekly and the donuts are huge! You can easily split a donut with another person.

The Glass Knife

If you're after a classic coffee shop experience with a great ambiance and amazing food, The Glass Knife has to be on your list. Their hand-crafted small-batch donuts are really works of art. The flavors rotate seasonally, so if you see something you like go ahead and order it because you may not see it for a while. For example, every year around the Fourth of July we look forward to their blueberry pie donut (pictured below).

Dochi

Dochi Donuts is absolutely unique and a must for any donut lover. These delicacies combine donuts and mochi and are made with rice flour, which makes the texture chewy, airy, and soft. The flavors rotate and include some interesting combinations like churrotella, cookie butter, and honeydew. You'll find these at East End Market Thursdays through Sundays. Come early because these are popular and will sell out.

Voodoo Doughnut

Located inside of Universal's CityWalk, Voodoo Doughnut is the perfect way to either start or end your theme park day. This doughnut shop serves more than 50 different types of doughnuts. Some of our favorites include the ODB (pictured below) which is a cake donut topped with Oreo and a peanut butter drizzle. The Voodoo doll is also a must-have - it has the most delicious raspberry filling.

If you aren't planning on going to the theme parks at Universal Orlando Resort, you can still visit the shop. Parking is free after 6 p.m., perfect for a night cap or picking up doughnuts for the next morning.
