Mistakes are going to happen. But here's how to avoid a few with your insurance.

  • Quoting yourself online. The systems that are used online to generate quotes are very generic. It will it not ask you all of the questions it needs to create an accurate quote. It also doesn't explain the coverage you are or are not choosing. This results in inaccurate premiums. Plus, a lack of or too much coverage.
  • Choosing minimum liability limits. If your liability limits don't fully cover an accident or incident, your assets are at risk. Ask your agent about what liability limits would be best for you. Speaking of...
  • Not opting for an umbrella policy. Your assets are a culmination of everything you've worked hard for. If your policy doesn't have enough liability to cover an accident or incident, that's when your umbrella kicks in. The cost for an extra $1,000,000 in liability is a lot less than you think.
  • Choosing a policy on solely price. It seems like a good way to choose right? Not as much as you would think. Choosing by coverage, is the best way to protect your family and your assets. How do you know how much is too little or too much? I'm glad you asked.
  • Not having a good relationship with your agent. Your agent is there to get to know you and what's important to you. With their knowledge, they can help guide you when choosing the coverage that is best for your needs, help you understand exactly what you're getting and fill any gaps in coverage you may have. Talk with your agent, they are there for YOU.
  • Not bundling your policies together. One of the highest discounts you can add to your policy, is a bundle discount. The more you bundle the more you save. Consider bundling your auto, home, toy, business and life insurance together.
  • Not asking enough questions. Understanding the policies you purchase, is important. I'll admit, insurance is boring yet necessary. As an agent, it's my job to help my customers to know the ins and outs of their policy. Never hesitate to ask questions. It's your money that you're giving to the insurance company. Make sure you have all of your questions and concerns answered.
  • Not keeping your agent up on your life updates. Did you get married? Have a baby? Get a degree? When life changes like these happen, it's important to let your agent know. Not only does that help them cover any gaps you may develop in your coverage, but also discounts that you can now add to your polices.

My goal as an agent is to listen, discuss, inform & guide my customer. Communicate with your agent. They will be with you and protect you in every stage of your life.
