I recently tried the new service, and was all too excited for delivery day. I'd been wanting some fresh flowers in the house for weeks, but between reduced hours and trying to limit the number of places I allow the kiddos to tag along, I just couldn't seem to make it to a florist. Plus, it had been forever since I'd done anything even remotely crafty. My kit arrived in a paper tote stuffed to the brim with fresh flowers, and included a simple, modern vase, an instructional note, and flower food.
I dug in right away, laying out each time of flower that had been provided. I was impressed with the variety and creativity in this mix—various spring wild flowers with a few hydrangeas for volume, and a surprise of mint to add to the aroma. I began arranging one floral type at a time, adding a stem and turning, adding a stem and repeating. I’m no professional floral designer, but I saw this on an OG episode of Queer Eye once, and if you ask me, however you’re doing something when you’re in your own home and no one is watching is exactly how the pros do it.
I squeezed the last stem into the vase and stood back to admire my work. I loved the result and I really enjoyed directing my focus to a quiet, creative activity for a while.
