100 Women of McKinney

A simple collective model empowers women to fund meaningful change across McKinney nonprofits each year.

Founded on the idea that collective giving can transform a community, 100 Women of McKinney has become a powerful force for local change. The organization brings together women who are passionate about supporting nonprofits and strengthening their city.

“It’s a girls’ night out with a purpose,” says Monica Szewczyk, executive board member. “We gather once a year, hear from three charities, and vote to decide where our collective gift will go.”

Each member contributes $100, creating a pooled donation that often exceeds $10,000 for a single organization. The model is intentionally simple, yet its impact is significant, providing both funding and visibility for local causes.

Monica helps secure event locations and sponsors, working alongside a collaborative team. “We all bring different strengths, and that makes everything we do stronger,” she says.

Since its founding in 2017, the group has supported a wide range of nonprofits, many of which have grown significantly after receiving funds and exposure. From grassroots outreach to established community programs, the ripple effect continues year after year.

What sets 100 Women of McKinney apart is its welcoming, no-membership approach. “You simply show up, bring your $100, and be part of something bigger,” explains Monica. The organization also reflects a diverse mix of women, united by a shared goal of giving back.

Originally founded as 100 Women of Eldorado, the group expanded as interest grew across McKinney. Today, it stands as a testament to what happens when women come together. “It’s uplifting, it’s fun, and it truly makes a difference,” says Monica. “When women unite, the impact is incredible.”

With no ongoing dues or long-term commitments, the barrier to entry remains low, encouraging first-time participants and longtime supporters alike. Annual events double as social gatherings, fostering connection while directing meaningful resources to those who need them most. For many, it is philanthropy made approachable, impactful, and deeply personal for all.
