My Search for a Perfect Party Arty Look
What to Wear to Party Arty
The theme this year is "Night of the Shining Sun," inspired by the featured exhibition Queen Nefertari: Eternal Egypt at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.
Think gold jewelry, tons of glitter, warm hues, sunset eyeshadow, geometric solar shapes, and other deep nighttime colors like burgundy, navy blue, and pine green.
I have been on the search for Egyptian-style dresses and jewelry that I like enough to wear again with future styles. Donna's Dress Shop had exactly what I had in mind and then some. I loved everything that I tried on and wished I could have bought more, but I can only wear so many things on my body at once!
Luckily for you, that means there are plenty of great finds left to snag this weekend. Hurry though—I can guarantee some of this stuff will sell out soon.
Here's what I found:
This look has been featured on Donna's Instagram recently and is spot-on for the Party Arty theme. The dress is appropriately named "Night of the Shining Sun Dress" and only costs $89. As of this morning, there were sizes small through large available.
The snake necklace is so fun because you can adjust it to be all different style and lengths. The entire thing bends and holds its shape, so you could even wrap it around your upper arm like a cuff. It costs $54 and is the only one in the store, so you better go quickly.
Jewelry
If you're too late for the snake or are looking for a different piece to complete the look, these are some of my other favorite picks. Everything is vintage and unique, and there is even so much more than what I photographed.
Gorgeous, right? I bought these snake earrings and hair clips for less than $30 each.
Some of the other Egyptian-style items are this leather clutch that the jewelry is sitting on, scarab beetle earrings, a chunky bracelet and a ring that has a mirror so you can glance down and check your teeth in it!
Dresses
This year's theme is all about glitz and glam. Bring. On. The. Sparkles. Unfortunately, I have super sensitive skin and have to be careful when wearing anything with sequins on it, but look how pretty these are!
The red dress on the right is see-through, so I tried it on over a slip. You can put it over anything you already own that would work. These two dresses are so intricate and beautiful—you just have to see them in person.
Here is what I did buy! This long blue dress has a little bit of sparkle on the top and is extremely soft and comfortable. I don't know if I will wear it to Party Arty yet, but I will keep it as an option.
The black pinstripe dress is just to wear to work—it was on sale, so I couldn't pass it up! And this sparkly jacket is just short enough that the sequins don't touch me when I walk, so I can handle it. I love the art deco style! I also ended up buying the pretty vintage slip since I didn't have one.
My total with the jewelry came out to a little more than $130, and I was able to get so much!
I absolutely loved my experience here, and the ladies were so nice and helpful. Please stop by and send me pictures of what you find! You can always DM or tag me on Instagram @hayhyer
