The Beck Cultural Exchange Center marked Tennessee’s Eighth of August Emancipation Day on Saturday, Aug. 1, with its 12th Annual Jubilee at Covenant Health Park. Centered on the theme “Honoring Freedom and Celebrating Legacy,” the evening featured music, cultural reflection, community recognition and an on-field ceremony before the Knoxville Smokies took the field as the Knoxville Giants in tribute to Negro League baseball. The celebration brought history, culture and America’s pastime together as the Giants faced the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
