Did you know that 80% of diets fail? How about the fact that most people that go on “fad” diets are 80% more likely to fail and regain more weight than they had lost to begin with? In fact, there are studies that have shown people who diet on and off regularly without changing their lifestyle into ones of healthier habits are suffering longer term health problems than non-dieters.

Did you know that 50% of women are currently on some sort of a “diet”? There are many people out there trying to lose weight right now, but they don't have the knowledge or skills to do so effectively. Eighty-five percent of people who start a diet without any type of behavioral support gain all that weight back within two years.

Dr. Wayne Scott Anderson is a mentor of mine of sorts. In Dr. A’s Habits of Health publish Nov 2008; Dr. A states:

“The desire to lose weight is more pressing than ever. in the US alone almost 2/3 of the population is either overweight or obese and levels of obesity are spreading at a frightening pace. The worldwide prevalence of obesity nearly tripled between 1975 and 2016. Obesity is truly becoming a pandemic with no resolution insight. The planet's population of overweight people (over a billion) outnumbered the hungry (roughly 700 million). The health implications of weight gain are alarming. Its ability to generate chronic disease is unprecedented. Weight is a factor in the fact that almost half of all adults are suffering some form of cardiovascular disease including heart attacks and strokes, as well as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, some cancers, gastrointestinal problems including Gallbladder disease, osteoarthritis, poor bone health, and breathing problems including sleep apnea and asthma.”

Only a year ago, before getting on a plan, I was one that was personally suffering from sleep apnea to a point that I was falling asleep behind the wheel driving to and from work. I desperately needed a change. My life was at risk.

I made the choice to get on a plan, correct my poor health behaviors, and begin to live a healthy lifestyle. I got on this plan and lost almost 70 lbs in four months. I was able to get rid of not only my sleep apnea, but greatly reduce my cholesterol, and my heart rate is now near perfect. My knee pain is completely gone.

Diets simply do not work. At least not long term. I needed a lifestyle change with some accountability partners that would help me and encourage me. They were fighting the same health and weight battles that I was.

Here we are one year later, and I have kept the weight off. We are in a community of like-minded people that support one another to be successful and to hold each other accountable.

If you or someone you know is suffering from similar issues with health or weight, then we may have a solution. We have formed a community on Facebook to allow people the availability to gain access to some great healthy recipes like the lasagna soup pictured above. They will see success stories, and just get a feel for the warmth and support that we show one another through our own daily battles with health and wholeness.

If you would like to be invited to check out the group, contact me through Facebook. We are people helping people.
