In the heart of downtown Prosper, a new restaurant is preparing to open its doors with a concept rooted in history, hospitality and community. 1902 takes its name from the year the Town of Prosper was established, a detail that reflects both its inspiration and its purpose.
“When I learned of the opportunity to acquire the building at 209 West Broadway in downtown Prosper, I knew immediately that I wanted to create a special culinary and hospitality experience that paid tribute to the history and the people that makes Prosper so special,” says Jason Young, Owner. “1902 felt like the perfect way to represent all that we were pouring into this effort while honoring those that brought us to now.”
For Jason, the opening of 1902 is not just a new business venture, but the continuation of a long-standing connection to North Texas. After relocating to Frisco in 2004 with Nordstrom, he spent years serving the region before transitioning out of the corporate world to build Verona Villa, an event venue known for its elevated service and community focus.
“After relocating to Frisco in 2004 with Nordstrom, I’ve spent years serving the North Texas community,” says Jason. “With so many of our customers in Prosper, I’ve always been aware of the strong sense of community and Prosper Pride. When this location became available, it was the perfect opportunity to create the restaurant experience it deserves.”
That sense of place is central to the vision behind 1902. Positioned in the historic downtown, the restaurant is designed to complement the existing fabric of the area while contributing to its continued growth.
“I believe that downtowns are the heartbeat of every community,” shares Jason. “They are the place for the intersection of business, gathering, giving and where the community can truly come together. My wish is that our new establishment can both complement the tremendous businesses that existed prior, honor the history of the community as well as encourage other people to bring their investment and ideas to continue to make downtown special. We hope that we can play a role in lifting all boats as downtown continues to flourish.”
At the center of the dining experience is a menu led by Chief Operating Officer and Culinary Director Chef Amy DiBiase, whose approach blends elevated comfort with thoughtful sourcing and bold flavors.
“One of our main goals is to introduce our COO and Culinary Director Chef Amy DiBiase to the people of Prosper and surrounding areas,” says Jason. “She is a culinary giant that has created an amazing menu that I believe people will flock to.”
Guests can expect a wide range of offerings, from appetizers like steak tartare, oysters and ham and cheese hush puppies to composed salads and hearty entrées. The menu will also feature quality steaks, alongside signature dishes such as a French dip sandwich, rotisserie chicken, house-made pastas and a bourbon and brown sugar glazed Kan Kan pork chop. The menu is designed to appeal to both casual diners and those seeking a more elevated night out.
“We are a food-first concept that prioritizes amazing hospitality. But it all starts with having delicious, fresh, best sourced ingredients paired with amazing beverage program and impeccable service,” explains Jason.
Beyond the menu, the physical space itself is a major part of the experience. The restaurant spans 8,000 square feet indoors, paired with a 3,500 square foot rooftop patio that offers a dynamic setting for everything from casual gatherings to special occasions. Inside, guests will find a lively bar, a comfortable booth-filled dining room and an intimate speakeasy designed for late-night experiences.
“We are taking advantage of the 8,000 square feet of interior space as well as our 3,500 square foot rooftop patio to create excitement and a reason to visit often,” says Jason.
While the concept is elevated, the focus remains firmly on community. The team envisions 1902 as a place where Prosper residents, along with visitors from surrounding areas, can gather regularly.
“Our core guests will be Prosper residents as well as friends and family and others visiting from surrounding communities,” says Jason. “We look forward to showing all the best of what Prosper has to offer.”
After months of planning and development, the restaurant is nearing the moment it will welcome guests, marking the beginning of what Jason hopes will be a lasting presence in downtown Prosper.
“It has been an amazing journey putting this concept together and while it has taken us slightly longer than originally planned, the product we are ready to welcome our guests to experience exceeds expectations,” says Jason. “We absolutely cannot wait to have you with us whether it is a dinner out with the family during the week or a special occasion you are celebrating with loved ones. 1902 was conceptualized for you.”
“1902 was created to honor Prosper’s past while building a place for gathering, connection, and memorable dining experiences for all."
“From our carefully crafted menu to the rooftop patio, every detail was designed with intention, creating a space where guests can celebrate, unwind, and experience hospitality that reflects the heart of Prosper.”
