Celina Garden Club started in 1945, initially to educate and promote love of gardening in the area. Since then, the club has grown and has expanded its mission to include community events, sponsor scholarships for Celina High School Students, school district projects, and other community organizations in their gardening efforts.
The Celina Garden Club will be hosting their biannual garden tour of select gardens around Celina and the surrounding areas on June 3rd. This event draws gardeners from all over the metro area and introduces them to the beauty of our community. Michella Melton, this year’s chairperson, is excited to lead the garden club’s biggest fundraiser. She joined the garden club three years ago, but it’s only been since retiring from her law practice that she’s been able to really dig in.
On the tour for this year, they will feature several homes in rural areas; gardens in downtown Celina; and some smaller suburban homes. Their desire is to highlight the fact that gardens can be beautiful and fulfilling anywhere. Many local businesses including Little Wooden Penguin, Shades of Green, food trucks, wineries, and vendors will be highlighted along the tour route to expand the experience and make it a fun day for everyone.
