Skinny jeans? Wide leg? Golf-style fabrics vs tailored tees? We go straight to the fashion experts at Amore & Fede and J.H. & Sons to learn about the latest looks for both the ladies and the guys, and the must-have pieces for this season.
For the Ladies
Let’s start with the ladies. Debbie Slusar, owner of Amore & Fede boutique, and her daughter, Brittany, say wide-leg jeans win out when it comes to current trends and are a must-have piece this season. “All the ladies need to own a pair of high-waist wide-leg jeans, pants, and trousers. These styles are so easy to pair with a fitted tee or tank, crop sweater or top, and or oversized shirt jacket and blazers. We all should own at least one of these,” says Debbie.
But if you’re still hanging on to your skinny jeans, you’re not alone. “Some of our customers still wear them, and we think that is great and encourage you to wear what makes you feel good!”
The “coastal cool” look is also trending. “Think breezy and effortlessly cool when it comes to getting dressed,” says Brittany. “Oversized shirt jackets are very popular. One of our favorites is from ZSupply, which continues to sell out every time! Another on-trend style is the monochrome look. It simplifies styling while making a bold statement.”
Brown and earthy tones will also dominate the rest of 2025, and as for accessories, mini bags are it. “We have the perfect woven mini bag in many colors that pairs well with any outfit!”
Gen Z & younger millennials are also making an impact on current trends. “They’re definitely making fashion more casual and less buttoned up,” says Debbie. “Most of them wear active wear as their main go-to outfits, of which I would prefer to see less of! Animal prints, oversized tops and sweaters, and casual or relaxed jeans are also trends you’ll see them wearing this fall.”
Even though you’ll see these trends on the younger generation, these are styles any age can adopt. Debbie says the biggest fashion rule made to broken is: you should always dress your age.
“Yes, there are some items I wouldn’t wear at my age, but there are so many styles I can wear as well as the young ladies. For example, the same romper was sold to a 37-year-old and then to a 66-year-old! I often hear women say, ‘I am too old to wear that!’ When I tell them my age and that I wear it, they then consider it and feel more comfortable purchasing the item. We always say wear what makes YOU feel good and comfortable, no matter the trend. The greatest way to make yourself look good is by feeling good in what you wear. Truly, that is what we try to do at Amore & Fede!”
So, ladies, if you’re going to add one piece to your wardrobe this season, it should be a high-waisted wide-leg pant. Pro tip: Amore & Fede carries the Liverpool brand, which makes great pant styles in very soft fabrics.
For the Fellas
For the guys, Kevin Luedke at J.H. & Sons says the biggest trend he’s seeing for 2025 starts with perfecting an elevated casual look. “Perfecting an elevated casual look means getting away from technical “golf style” fabrics and moving into garments with a more tailored approach. This year’s must-have item is a tailored over-shirt/shirt jacket. This piece, when crafted from a fabric typically used for a sport coat, provides our clients a layer without having to reach for a sport coat, bringing a wide range of versatility to their wardrobe.”
Tailored clothing is back in style and the top priority for the team at J.H. & Sons. “We are always encouraging our clients to move beyond the idea of ‘being overdressed’ and that bringing a tailored element to their casual Friday night dinners is more than appropriate. There is nothing wrong with being the best-dressed guy in the room.”
Kevin is also seeing the impact on this season’s styles from the younger generation. “It’s a return to the essentials. Making sure they have a great, softly constructed, navy blazer with a rotation of white and blue shirts. A well-tailored pair of mid-wash denim or dress trousers and a low-profile brown loafer. Quality over quantity is the name of the game right now. We’re spending more time with our clients finding the perfect pieces within the store and through made-to-measure for their daily wardrobe and special events, making their selections more personalized and unique to their preferences,” shares Kevin.
The best part about this year’s trends is that you don’t need to overhaul your entire closet to fit in this season’s style. “We work tirelessly to bring our clients the best that menswear has to offer and find ways to incorporate new concepts into their wardrobe with their personal preferences in mind,” says Kevin. “I am most personally excited about replacing my sneakers with casual, dress loafers!”
This season is all about elevating your casual look. Remember, gents, there’s nothing wrong with being the best-dressed guy in the room!
