Deprivation is NOT the Answer

EATING LESS AND EXERCISING MORE DOESN'T WORK

Let's do a brief overview of why eating less, exercise more doesn't work.

There is something called our “basal metabolic rate” or how many calories our body burns at rest. Imagine yourself just sitting there all day long and not doing anything but breathing. The calories doing this takes about 60-70% of our calorie burn throughout the day.. After seeing many body composition tests, I would say an average woman’s BMR is anywhere between 1300-1700 calories at rest. Basal Metabolic Rate is very much dependent on how much muscle we have. So, the more muscle you have, the more calories you are going to burn at rest.

The key here is muscle is very metabolically expensive. What does that mean? It needs a lot of calories to maintain itself and grow. As women, we tend to be more prone to muscle breakdown as we get older especially at the post menopause age. Also, we know as we get older, life gets more stressful: we have kids, we have a full time job, we get married, etc. and time gets more and more limited to prioritize yourself with adequate exercise and nutrition. With all this in combination it can cause our body to have a harder time sustaining muscle which in return affects our BMR. Plus, I haven’t even gotten into the whole talk about hormones affecting us as well!

The worst thing we can do as women as we get older is eat less . This doesn’t give our muscles enough calories to sustain themselves especially if we don’t eat enough protein. Another downfall is doing exercise that is not beneficial to muscle maintenance and growth (aka tons of cardio).

If you are doing the whole game of “I’m just not going to eat today” and/or “I am going to run to burn off this meal”... you have the wrong mindset and you are doing more harm to yourself than good.

Yes, you may get immediate weight loss with these methods, but the results will be short lived and make it harder and harder for you to sustain your weight loss, health, and your sanity long-term. My business thrives because people cannot walk away from this mentality.

I just want to reiterate today that we are in 2022 and not the 1990s. Research continues to show that crash dieting, excessive cardio, and wayyy undereating is a recipe for disaster and despite the popular belief it doesn't make us healthier.

I invite you today to walk away from this mindset and join a more sustainable lifestyle change by using my Gray30 program. This course walks you through my 4 step Gray method to walk you away from crash dieting and start fueling your body adequately for true results.
