Mudrooms—if you're fortunate enough to have one—are a catch-all space intended for shoes and boots, bags and coats and even pet gear or laundry essentials. Whatever you use this space for, it needs to be organized so it can be helpful instead of chaotic. Here are three great ideas for making the most of your mudroom.

Add Hooks + a Bench

Don't have an actual "room" for a mudroom? Add some functional hooks and a tiny bench to a little nook near the side or back door. You can hang coats and remove shoes in this area without taking up much space.

Buy a Cabinet

Instead of installing hooks on the wall, opt for a large cabinet with shelves that can be used to store shoes, pet supplies, rain gear and more.

Get Organized

Since you'll likely be storing lots of frequently used items in your mudroom, be sure the space is organized so you can easily find what you need. Storage bins, glass jars and even assigned spots for each family member's belongings are great solutions.
