3-Minute Yoga

Use this easy yoga flow to relax your body and mind

The new year is the perfect time to put some healthier habits in place, like a regular yoga practice. But how do you start a new yoga routine? Guiding Tree Yoga suggests trying these 3 yoga poses to start your day. They take just 2-3 minutes, and you will start to feel great!

Instructions:

1/ Cat Pose

Begin on hands and knees. Align your shoulders over wrist creases, with hands shoulder-width apart. Stack your hips over knees, making sure knees and legs are hip distance apart. Tuck toes under as pictured. As you exhale, rock your pelvis backward, tucking your tailbone down. Round back and tuck your chin, drawing the crown of your head to the ground.

2/ Cow Pose

Stay in the same alignment. Relax the feet, letting the tops of your feet rest on the floor. As you inhale, rock the front of your pelvis downward, lifting the tailbone up. Extend the spine, dropping your belly. Pull your chest through your shoulders and lift your chin up. Repeat for 10-20 breaths: Exhale Cat, Inhale Cow.

3/ Downward Facing Dog Pose

From hands and knees, tuck your toes under and lift your hips up and back. Bend your knees so that the spine becomes long creating a line from the hands through the arms, shoulders, and spine all the way to the tailbone. The goal is not to have straight legs but a long spine. Hold for 5 breaths.
