The laundry room, much like the kitchen, is most efficient if it is organized well. You'll need easy access to detergent, dryer balls or sheets, hangers, an iron and (ideally) room to fold the clean clothes. Here are five tips and tricks to make the most of your laundry room space so you can spend less time washing and drying clothes and more time doing what you love.

1. Store Supplies in Glass Canisters

Laundry detergent containers are bulky and ugly. Create a streamlined look and store your liquid detergent in a glass drink dispenser. Store detergent pods, dryer balls and/or sheets and clothespins in glass canisters.

2. Hang a Laundry Care Symbols Cheat Sheet

Who can remember what all those little symbols on the tag means? Hang a poster in your laundry room for easy reference.

3. Use Multiple Laundry Baskets

Instead of wasting time sorting through dirty laundry, use two or more baskets to sort darks, lights, delicates, etc.

4. Hang or Mount the Lint Holder

Many laundry rooms don't have room to put a trashcan on the floor. If you have cabinets, try a small over-the-door trashcan or mount a mailbox to the wall to throw away lint and used dryer sheets.

5. Install a Drying Rack on the Wall

Save floor space by installing a drying rack on the wall. Hang delicates there to dry and store extra hangers when they're not in use.
