Try an award-winning pitmaster’s version of the classic Bloody Mary. It’s plenty zesty and enhanced with a rim of Plowboys Barbeque founder-owner and chief pitmaster Todd Johns’ signature Bovine Bold Rub.

"Instead of vodka, we used a unique local Beetroot spirit from Of The Earth Farm + Distillery in Richmond, Mo., to keep things interesting. Finally, show your love for Kansas City’s most iconic food by garnishing the cocktail with an outrageous skewer of smoked barbecue nibbles!"

Plowboys Bovine Bold Bloody Mary

(Makes 1 drink)

Bloody Mary Mix

1 lemon wedge

1 lime wedge

2 ounces Of The Earth Farm + Distillery Beetroot

4 ounces tomato juice

2 dashes Tabasco sauce

2 teaspoons prepared horseradish

2 dashes Worcestershire sauce

1 pinch Plowboys BBQ Bovine Bold Rub (plus enough to rim the glass)

1 pinch ground black pepper

1 pinch smoked paprika

Garnish

Garnish: Pulled pork slider

Garnish: Pork rib

Garnish: Burnt end chunk

Garnish: Jalapeño slice

Serving

Pour some Bovine Bold onto a small plate. Rub the juicy side of the lemon or lime wedge along the lip of a pint glass. Roll the outer edge of the glass in Bovine Bold until fully coated. Fill with ice and set aside.

Squeeze the lemon and lime wedges into a shaker and drop them in.

Add the remaining ingredients and ice and shake gently.

Strain cocktail into the prepared glass.

Garnish outrageously with a bamboo skewer of pork slider, rib, burnt end and jalapeño, or a combination!
