We maintain and manage some of the finest homes in Fairfield County Connecticut and Westchester County New York. Gorgeous homes with the finest amenities and furnishings. State of the art estates with the latest home automation and the top-of-the-line appliances. Huge movie theaters and indoor swimming pools, basketball courts and bowling alleys. We work for some of the top names from the Finance and Hedge fund World to Broadway and Hollywood. We have been at it for almost 40 years. When we take over the maintenance and management of a fine home or estate, we provide an initial inspection of the home and the property. One specific question I always ask a new client is “How’s your indoor air quality? The answers usually span the gamut from it’s fine to my child has allergies and the house seems dusty, and the basement smells musty to it’s always hot and dry in the upstairs bedrooms. With this feedback and information (“Intel”) we can help our clients improve the air inside their homes and reduce the bad things in the air.

“EPA studies of human exposure to air pollutants indicate that indoor levels of pollutants may be two to five times — and occasionally more than 100 times — higher than outdoor levels. These levels of indoor air pollutants are of particular concern because most people spend about 90 percent of their time indoors. Over 3.8 million people a year die prematurely from illness attributable to the household air pollution caused by the inefficient use of solid fuels. Among these 3.8 million deaths: 27% are due to pneumonia, 18% from stroke, 27% from ischemic heart disease and 20% from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), 8% from lung cancer.” Yes, you read the correctly.

For the past decade we have educated ourselves on indoor pollutants, the causes, consequences, and the technology to monitor and rectify poor indoor air quality. We have become Indoor Air Quality Professionals. Experts in improving indoor air quality. We test the indoor air in each home we manage initially for temperature, Radon and Humidity and somethings most people don’t think about like VOC’S (Exposure to VOC vapors can cause a variety of health effects, including eye, nose, and throat irritation; headaches and loss of coordination; nausea; and damage to the liver, kidneys, or central nervous system. Some VOCs are suspected or proven carcinogens.)  Another indoor air problem is elevated levels of C02 (Exposure to CO2 can produce a variety of health effects. These may include headaches, dizziness, restlessness, a tingling or pins or needles feeling, difficulty breathing, sweating, tiredness, increased heart rate, elevated blood pressure, coma, asphyxia, and convulsions.) Particulate Matter PM2.5 (How can PM2.5 affect my health? Particles in the PM2.5 size range are able to travel deeply into the respiratory tract, reaching the lungs. Exposure to fine particles can cause short-term health effects such as eye, nose, throat and lung irritation, coughing, sneezing, runny nose and shortness of breath.)  Once we have established baselines, we make our recommendations to improve the indoor air quality in the home.
