History

Shatto Milk Company has been bottling and distributing milk since 2003; however, they have been creating “Milk at it’s Finest” for nearly 80 years. Shatto milk is hormone-free and on the store shelves in less than 24 hours. While their bottles look cool with their fun phrases and logos, the glass serves a more functional purpose. It’s environmentally friendly! All bottles have a $2.00 deposit at the store, that is returned when the bottle is. Every bottle returned can be washed and reused.

While they do produce your typical whole, skim, and 1 or 2%, they are known for their range of flavored milks. Browsing the grocery store freezer section, you’ll find the standard chocolate and strawberry, but shelves may also be stocked with cookies n’ cream, cotton candy, and root beer flavors. Banana and coffee are among the ranks too, with eggnog making its way to shelves in the winter.

Not only are they known for their unique flavors of milk, but also their seasonal and special releases with the bottles to match. Some of their most notable releases have been in honor of the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. Fans lined up through the aisles of local grocery stores to snag a bottle or two of the “Champs” Chocolate Cherry, “Sunday” Red Velvet, and “Crown” royal blue. Other seasonal and speciality flavors have included mint chocolate, cereal milk, and raspberry.

In addition to a variety of flavored (and non-flavored) milks the company also produces ice cream, cheese, butter, and milk soap. Non-dairy products include lemonade, fruit punch, and milk “flavorizers”.

Shatto Milk can be found in grocery stores across the Kansas City metro area. Bring the Shatto Milkman to your door with home delivery service across the Kansas City Metro. Be Your Own Barista

With unique flavors of milk comes the opportunity to craft a unique latte. While any of their milks pair wonderfully with coffee (we’re looking at you chocolate) here’s a few drinks using coffee, strawberry, and root beer milk.

Cinnamon Vanilla Latte

  • Espresso
  • Shatto Coffee Milk
  • Ice
  • Cinnamon
  • Vanilla Syrup (or creamer)

Pour espresso into your cup of choice. Add cinnamon and a splash of vanilla syrup and stir. Fill the cup with ice and top with coffee milk. Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon and your favorite straw.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Latte (hot or iced)

  • Espresso
  • Chocolate syrup
  • Shatto strawberry milk
  • Ice (optional)
  • Strawberry (for garnish)

Drizzle chocolate syrup around the inside of your mug or glass. Mix your espresso and an extra drizzle chocolate syrup in your cup. Add ice and top with strawberry milk for an iced latte. Froth or heat the strawberry milk and pour over espresso for a hot latte. Garnish with a fresh strawberry, and more chocolate if you're feeling sweet.

Blended Root Beer Frappe

  • Espresso
  • Root beer milk
  • Ice
  • Cinnamon (optional)

Pour espresso and root beer milk into a blender. Add desired amount of ice based on how thick or thin you want your drink. Blend until ice is crushed. Pour in a mug and sprinkle with cinnamon.

*I used about 8 oz of milk and 1/2 cup of ice for a lighter and thinner consistency
