If you’ve followed along my Insta-Stories, you might have seen that I recently got an Express Chemical Peel with SkinCeuticals. I have also been trying out their new Glycolic 10 Renew Overnight at home to follow my peel. In summary, I received a chemical peel at SunFlower Dermatology – specifically an exfoliating peel treatment which was performed by a professional. The peel has helped to rid my dry skin on the outermost layer, and has revealed the healthy, radiant layer of skin beneath. For reference, I have always had very dry skin with the occasional breakout on my t-zone.
Below I answered the most frequently asked questions and threw in any additional information I thought might be useful. As always with anything health related, please consult with your physician to get the best recommendation for your specific needs and visit the SkinCeuticals website to learn more.

What is a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels exfoliate the outer most layer of dead skin to improve blemishes, skin texture, radiance and more. Chemical peels can be administered on various places on the body and must be done by a licensed professional. There are different types of chemical peels that depend on your specific needs and how much downtime you want (how long you are willing to peel). You can get them done once a month or quarterly depending on your personal needs.
How Does the Treatment Work?
There is a chemical peel solution that is administered to the skin for a certain amount of time. The solution works by exfoliating the skin, and as a result, exfoliates layers of off dead skin away. I personally did not want any downtime, so I opted for the Express Peel. With the Express Peel you will have no visible peeling after your treatment and can resume your normal routine.
What are the Benefits?
The Chemical Peel helps rid the face of dead skin, blemishes, fine lines, wrinkles and more. The chemical solution works to help reveal a brighter, more radiant, layer of skin.
Do Chemical Peels Hurt?
My treatment did not hurt, but it was uncomfortable. I experienced a bit of tingling in the beginning and had mild discomfort. My aesthetician at SunFlower Dermatology did a fabulous job of chatting with me to take my mind off the discomfort. The Chemical Peel solution is added in layers and with each layer you get used to the peel, so by layer 3 we were smooth sailing! That being said, the type of chemical peel you get determines the discomfort. Some in-office treatments such as laser or injections require numbing, however with chemical peels you do not.
Is There Any Maintenance Post-Treatment?
It is recommended to keep up a healthy skin routine at home. Your professional will have the best options for you - but I went home with the Glycolic 10 Renew Overnight and the Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2. The Glycolic 10 Renew Overnight cream delivers a true 10% glycolic acid value to promote cellular turnover for healthy, glowing skin. The Triple Lipid Restore is an anti-aging treatment cream to refill cellular lipids and nourish dry skin.
Would You Recommend the Chemical Peel?
Yes! I absolutely recommend a chemical peel by a licensed professional after assessing your specific skin needs. I loved this treatment for my dry skin, especially since the colder months are harsh on my skin. For more information and professional advice, please visit SkinCeuticals.
