The 3rd Annual Chairman Turner’s International Ball took place in September at the Georgia International Convention Center. The aim of this annual fundraising event was to celebrate the cultural diversity of Clayton County, GA and to raise money to support Woman University, this year’s charity designee.
Nearly 300 guests enjoyed international food from Poland, Mexico, China, and the continent of Africa by Proof of the Pudding. To celebrate the over 60 languages spoken in Clayton County, guests were treated to cultural presentations and dance from the Giwayen Mata, the all-female dance, percussion and vocal ensemble representing West Africa, traditional Romanian music from Gabriela Dambra, an electrifying performance by the Atlanta Chinese Dance Company, and the crowd-pleasing, Salsambo, a Cuban Mexican fusion dance group.
This year’s event raised nearly $14,000 for Marvelous Light Empowerment Association, the nonprofit arm of Woman University. Woman University provides educational opportunities and resources to equip women to become community leaders and business owners through a creative, supportive global network.
