Nail Trends have come a long way. I remember when a simple square shaped French Tip was trending. I was in middle school at the time. Our creative streak for expression through nails, fashion and style has advanced overtime.
It has been stated that nail trends date back to 5000 B.C. when women in India decorated their fingertips with henna. Later, in 4000 B.C. Babylonian men were known to manicure and color their nails with black or green kohl. The Chinese are credited with creating nail stains from egg whites, beeswax and vegetable dyes as early as 3000 B.C.
Nail products such as polish colors, products and designs have changed drastically. It was no such thing as shellac when I was in my 20s. There are several nail shapes which include: square, square oval, round, oval, almond, coffin and stiletto.
In the past, the nail shape could determine your level of wealth. Nail trends have changed overtime. Influencers like Cardi B, popularize long nails, nails with fashion brands logos as decoration.
What I look for in a good manicure:
- The removal of cuticles
- Filing
- Buffing
- Exfoliation
- The nail polish being perfect
- Of course, a good massage
The 2020 nail trends:
- Minimalistic
- Ombre
- Gradient nails
- Green, blue, orange, and many more colors
