Grove at Madera by Tri Pointe Homes - Homeowner Spotlight

Downsizing with more livable space in a new home with all the amenities? Very logical!

Bobby Saiz knows all about logistics. He owns a business that has him traveling all over the country where he’s tasked with fixing logistics centers in different companies in various cities. He and his wife Kelley, a registered nurse, have bought multiple homes and lived in numerous states, including California, Colorado, Florida, Texas, and Arizona, most recently in Gilbert for the past decade.

With the kids in college, and with the couple living in an older home, they were looking to downsize but looking to buy something new that fit their empty nester lifestyle.

That’s why Grove at Madera was the perfect fit. As one of the first owners in the neighborhood (they bought one of the first under-construction homes) they ended up buying the Juniper, a modern 4-bedroom, single-story home plan with an open-concept kitchen and living area, a creative Flex Design® space, and a gorgeous primary suite.

“We liked the newness of the home, placement on the street, the price, the smaller square footage, and the smaller backyard and lot,” said Bobby. And even though they were downsizing, the four-bedroom home is more livable, with more usable space, and a better home design.

“I like how the kitchen, living room, and dining room are all connected,” Bobby says. The kitchen amenities are impressive, such as granite slab countertops, stainless steel under-mount sink, chrome Delta faucet with integral sprayer, and Energy Star® G.E. stainless steel appliances. Another feature the couple loves? The primary suite, located near the back of the home that offers them a peaceful retreat with a luxurious bath and walk-in closet.

With a 4.6-acre central park and large pavilion, a community pool, bocce and pickleball courts, play areas, and ramadas as well as the soon-to-open recreation center, Bobby and Kelley will have many options to enjoy the outdoors at Madera. “We both play pickleball, so we’ll be on that pickleball court a lot and the park will allow us to exercise and run.”

Like many Arizonians, Bobby works from home and will have a dedicated office using the high-speed Wi-Fi as part of the HomeSmart® options and flex space while Kelley will enjoy an easy commute to work in Mesa, thanks to the recent expansion of State Route 24.

In addition to more space, outdoor amenities, and home comfort, their new home at Grove at Madera is LEED Certified®, Energy Star® certified and has an energy-efficient HERS Rating of 52, which is excellent compared with a typical resale home in the 130 range.

“There’s no comparison between the windows in our current home to the ones 20 years ago,” Bobby says. Low-E glass windows aim to keep heat and cold outside, while letting the light in and helping protect the flooring and furnishings from sun fading. “The spray foam in the attic was a big selling point too; overall, the windows and insulation were better than any other home we’ve lived in.”

Another big plus for the couple is their new home’s location in Queen Creek. From its exceptional climate (approximately 330 days of sunshine!), shopping, new farmer’s market, the 272-acre Gilbert Regional Park, The Barney Family Sports Complex, various beer festivals, and more, “it’s really up and coming,” says Bobby. “I also like the fact that we’re still in Maricopa County for the lower tax rates too.”

And, moving in was a breeze with that well-known Tri Pointe Homes’ touch. “The team we worked with were outstanding communicators, helpful, friendly, and patient,” adds Bobby.

That’s something a logistics professional – who relies on things running smoothly – can appreciate.
