A Grateful Heart

Highland's Ranch First Grader Shares His Favorite Things

Kaden Livesay was born with truncus arteriosus due to 22Q, commonly known as George's Syndrome, diagnosed in utero. At six months old, Kaden was the youngest person to receive a mechanical heart valve at Children’s Hospital. Now a first grader, he shares his 5 favorite things to remind us of the hope and joy in every child's heart.

1. Playing with my sister.

“We play pretend, like high school and office. She plays outside with me and we do crafts.”

2. Playing with friends

Like most first graders, Kaden loves to play groundies with classmates Taelor, Logan, and Layla.

3. Dance

Kaden dances weekly at Littleton Ballet Academy. “I was in The Nutcracker last year and played a baby mouse.”

4. New York and Disneyland

“We went to New York last Christmas, to the top of The Empire State Building and saw The Rockettes. At Disneyland, my favorite character is Mickey Mouse and It’s A Small World.”

5. "Spend time with my momma"

The deep bond between Kaden and Lisa Livesay is obvious. “At the park, I love to swing and Mama doesn't have to push me anymore. She takes care of me when I’m in the hospital. I love her very much.”
