Having a live Christmas tree is a practice that dates back to the 16th century. Country Cove Christmas Tree Farm has been helping families in and around Murfreesboro to keep this tradition going. For 2022, guests can pick between seven varieties of choose-your-own trees. The all-inclusive selection process has everything you need, including a saw and measuring pole, as well as a shaking, baling, and loading service. Be sure to stop by the Christmas Shoppe for unique and personalized ornaments, wreaths, décor, and stocking stuffers.
Lea Anne Bedsole has lived in Murfreesboro since early childhood and knew she wanted to raise her own family here. Bedsole has fond memories of the holidays and has been known to put up multiple trees around the house and small trees in each child’s room. Even though her kids are now 20 and 22, they still enjoy helping mom put up the Christmas tree. She reminisces that holidays with little ones are a lot of work but so much fun!
Bedsole explains, “Going to a tree farm is such a great family outing.” She suggests making a whole day of it by having lunch and choosing a tree. Then, bring it home to decorate, order in dinner, and watch a Christmas movie together.”
Her biggest advice is to keep an open mind and let everyone participate in the process. You can work together as a family to choose the tree and let the kids place their artwork themselves. She remarks, “beautiful trees are nice, but a tree decorated together with your family is even better.” She encourages parents not to be too rigid in their expectations and just have fun with the whole activity. We joked that you can always go back and rearrange things once the kids are asleep.
Bedsole is a Rutherford County expert. She’s been a real estate agent in this area for 14 years, and her team stages approximately 75 houses per year. One of the most memorable was the annual Candlelight Tour of Homes on East Main Street. They used natural elements such as magnolia and holly, which was stunning!

Know Your Ceiling Height
Decide where you want to place the tree in your home. It’s one thing to want a big, beautiful tree, but most importantly, it needs to fit. -
Be Mindful of Walkways
The width of the branches at the bottom will affect the amount of space you have to maneuver in your room. Take measurements in advance to ensure you choose a tree that’s properly suited for your space. -
Explore Different Styles
Take a look at Pinterest to help narrow down the characteristics you desire in a tree. Do you prefer more or less trunk? Do you favor a certain shade of green? Is there a branch shape you gravitate towards? -
Consider Your Decorations
Think about your lights, ornaments, ribbon, topper, flowers, etc. If you have heavy objects, select a species of tree with heartier branches that can support the weight.
Make Preparations for Transport and Care
Finding the perfect tree is great, but be prepared with an appropriate vehicle to bring it home safely. Also, ensure you plan to nourish the tree adequately to keep it fresh for the entire season.
