If you’re not familiar with my style, let’s just say I am not afraid of color! It’s such an easy way to add personality to a space, and it’s also usually pretty easy to change down the road if you get tired of it, or if you want to redecorate. Season 3 of Bargain Mansions was all about the color and tile (more on tile later!) so today I’m sharing four of my favorite ways to incorporate color in a home:
1. Doors + Trim
The days of trim and doors having to match are over! And who says they have to be white? I have seen so many gorgeous designs recently that include painted trim and/or doors and it can be stunning.
For a wow statement, add color to your entry trim and even ceiling, like we did with this beautiful dusty blue color. It’s a perfect contrast to the medium tone wood flooring.
In the same house, I added pale pink to this pantry door because 1) pink is my favorite color! And 2) it pairs so nicely with the color palette.
Do you have wood stair treads? It’s such a fun and unexpected place to add color! You can paint your treads or you can get vinyl decals made for an even more custom look.
2. Ceilings
Not many people think to paint a ceiling or add a treatment of some kind but I love a statement ceiling that draws your eyes upward! Especially if you’ve got killer lighting or high ceilings.
A porch or overhang can be an unexpected place to go bold, like this coral we matched from the front door.
Another place I love to add color on the ceiling is a master closet – it just really takes it up a level. Wallpaper can be totally transformative here, plus you can pull in some pattern if you’d like!
3. Cabinetry
If you’ve caught any Season 3 Bargain Mansions episodes, I’m sure you saw lots of colored cabinets in the houses and I couldn’t even pick a favorite – I love them all! The deep green kitchen, cheery yellow mud space, and pale pink pantry of this house we flipped in Kearney has so much personality.
