I don't know about you guys, but I am missing brunch. A lot. A busy bar patio early on a Sunday morning after you luckily nabbed a prime parking spot, with eggs Benedict extra hollandaise, bottomless mimosas in stemmed glasses, cute yet comfy clothes, last nights eye liner-turned-smokey eye, and your best pals.
So, I knew I needed to make some Bloody Mary's. I have pretty standard garnishes that I always include in a homemade Bloody Mary - olives (bonus points if they are stuffed with blue cheese), cheese cubes, celery sticks, pickles, and banana peppers. But, with limited visits to the grocery stores, I decided to get creative in the incredibly shelf-stable frozen food aisle. I snagged some delicious Bloody Mary garnish snacks that can also double down as my dinner when I've run out of produce and don't want to cook.
First, start with your base:
- Demitri's Bloody Mary Seasoning (a dash per drink or 2 ounces in a quart of tomato juice)
- Demitri's Original RimShot
- Demitri's Pepperoni Straws
- Vodka (delicious without the vodka too!))
- V8 tomato juice
Demitri's is a gourmet mixer company out of Seattle Washington that makes all-natural Bloody Mary Seasonings and Margarita Mixes. Their products make the best, most consistent drinks and you can add any extra ingredients to your bloodies easily. You can also use the bloody mix to marinate meats, top your burgers, and add to stews. They sell other cool goodies and are doing a bunch of shelter-in-place deals on their website right now. $5 from every order will go directly to Meals on Wheels to provide delivered meals to people in need. BREAKFAST SAUSAGE
To my surprise, I realized I've never seen a Bloody Mary at brunch that included a pork sausage link. Seems like a major missed opportunity because it fits perfectly on a garnish stick! I went with a Jones Pork Sausage, but you can make it turkey sausage, chicken sausage, or a plant-based sausage!
CHICKEN TAQUITOS
The El Montery Chicken and Cheese Taquito balances seamlessly like an alluring airplane and you can give your garnish stick a spin and airplane a bite of cheesy goodness into your mouth between every sip. Really let the inner child in you fly.
EGG ROLL
A Chung's Veggie Egg Roll atop a bomb Bloody Mary is even more amazing than you think.
PIZZA ROLLS
Last, but definitely not least, nothing is tastier than a crispy Totino's Pepperoni Pizza Roll on the tip-top of a thick, spicy, Bloody Mary. My favorite garnish I've ever done on top of a Bloody Mary.
