HOW HOLIDAY TRADITIONS CONTINUE THROUGH PANDEMIC AT  BRIDGEWATER COMMONS

Article by Karen Kwong

Taking photos with Santa at the mall has been a holiday tradition for many families. Year 2020 brings an unprecedented challenge for all. Many places come up with creative ideas to ensure children of all ages are still having an enjoyable holiday experience safely during a pandemic. The Safe Santa Celebration at Bridgewater Commons Mall is the talk of the town and worth a visit.

I am appointed by Bridgewater Commons as the official photographer this year to capture teaser, Santa Arrival Ceremony, and decors photos for this incredible novel project. I am blown away by this reimaged no-touch, socially distanced, walk-through experience, and how the holiday magic continues to fill people with joy despite all the difficulties we are all facing during a pandemic.

It is located in the Center Court on the Lower Level of the Mall. The best way to get to it is through the entrance doors right next to Uncle Julio's Mexican From Scratch restaurant, and then go straight and take the escalator down. The Mall is beautifully decorated with holiday lights and decors. Visiting during the day vs. at night gives a very different feel.

The set features a branded photo frame with Santa sitting behind the frame. Santa and his guests communicate through the "Santa-COM microphone" system. The floor is marked with social distancing snowflakes.
