Many people associate Augusta with Golf, and rightfully so, but more have discovered the fine and casual dining dynasty developing in this rustic city.

Many international cultures are represented in the hundreds of Augusta restaurants ranging in price from cheap to upscale. Here are some restaurants for different occasions in Augusta.

Augusta Restaurants in Downtown

Downtown Augusta has a wide range of eateries to suit every palate and budget, from inexpensive to upscale. 

There are three new restaurants downtown, all with excellent ratings. The downtown options include Italian, Soul food, French, American, Japanese, sushi, tapas, seafood, Mexican, Caribbean, Chinese, Colombian, and West African.

Restaurants on Washington Road: Tasty Eateries

Washington Road in Augusta is a famous dining strip with a variety of restaurants there. Have your pick of a moderately priced steakhouse, Waffle House for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Japanese, Mexican, Southern, Chinese, Italian, Indian, Mediterranean, Thai, German, and Korean cuisines. American and Japanese are famous along that stretch of roadway. There are a few fast-food chain restaurants in the mix.

Traveling with family a group or looking for a romantic spot, there is a restaurant or two that meets all your requirements. 

Your Favorite Mexican Restaurants

Get some fajitas, quesadillas, tacos, and all your favorite Mexican meals at any of 33 Mexican restaurants across Augusta. Check out Teresa's Mexican Restaurant is a popular choice in North Augusta with various polls dishes.

They're also famous for their dips, salads, and vegetarian selections. For traditional Mexican specialties made with fresh ingredients, try the family-owned Salsa's Bar & Grill  on the Bobby Jones Expy. They offer indoor and outdoor seating in a lovely setting.

Fun Seafood Restaurants

Nearly 100 seafood restaurants line the streets of Augusta. Many are straight seafood, and others are a variety of restaurants that mainly feature seafood. 

More than 70 seafood buffet restaurants are available for food lovers who like various options or eat to their hearts' delight. T's restaurant offers a vast number of Southern-inspired seafood meals and a well-stocked bar. They are famous for their fried catfish and hush puppies. The restaurant recently experienced a fire but should be serving some delicious meals again soon.

Chinese Restaurants

For those who love a good serving of Asian cuisine, specifically Chinese, there are 45 Chinese restaurants across Augusta waiting to serve you, from downtown to North Augusta. Most offer straight Chinese while others are Asian-infused, doing a mixture of Chinese, Japanese, Hawaiian and Thai dishes. 

Prices range from cheap to moderate, and you have a lovely lunch and dinner dine-in option at the top-rated Mirin Fusion Kitchen, which offers patio seating and creatively presented meals.

Italian Restaurants in Northern and Downtown Augusta

There are 32 Italian restaurants from Pizzerias to upscale, serving downtown and North Augusta. Some of the most highly rated include Oliviana Bar Italiano & Pizzeria and Giuseppe's.

Japanese Restaurants

Visit any one of 28 Japanese restaurants serving Downtown and North Augusta. Only a handful of inexpensive ones are around, with most being moderate to expensive. 

Check out Hawaiian Style BBQ restaurant on Gordon Hwy for a meat-centric menu bursting with Hawaiian flavors.

Indian Restaurants

While there are only five Indian restaurants in Augusta, be assured they serve up some sumptuous meals, earning them all 4.5 and higher star ratings. India Cafe has an informal setting on Shartom Dr offering Spinach Pakora, Chicken Biryani, Vegetarian Platter, and more.

Steak Restaurants

A whopping 100 steak restaurants serve the city of Augusta.

Yes, the Augustinian's love their steak. Some are very pricey, but there is a mixture of prices and something on every beef-eater menu. Several steak houses are right on the famous Washington Rd food strip. O'Charley's Restaurant and Bar is an all you can eat chain and customers say the chopped steak is excellent.

Korean Restaurants: The Exclusive Few

While there are only six Korean restaurants in Augusta, they go all out to present every aspect of their culture in the meal delivery and decor.

All your favorites from Korean BBQ to Bulgogi steak and homestyle meals await you. Happy House Korean Restaurant on Deans Bridge Road gives you delicious homestyle meals sizzling right on your table.

Vegan Restaurants: Tofu and Delicious Vegetable Options

Believe it or not, more than 100 vegan restaurants or restaurants offering vegan in the mix are situated across the city.

Local folks like to have a healthy meal balance at places like Mellow Mushroom Augusta, which offers vegan pizzas, and Nacho Mama's for vegan Mexican choices.

Greek Restaurants: The Coastal European Taste

Seventy-six Greek restaurants strewn across the city are ready to serve you some healthy and delicious sandwiches or salads. Pita Mediterranean Street Food on Creek Dr is well-loved and affordable.

German Restaurants

The two German restaurants in Augusta sell great food. One's on Deans Road and the other on 6th St. Hildebrandt's is family-owned and offers some authentic rare dishes. The potato salad is delicious.

Fun Sushi Restaurants

There are scores of Sushi restaurants in Augusta, which is not surprising since they have many seafood restaurants. 

TakoSushi has an eclectic menu in a casual setting. Everything on the menu is good. Try the Spicy Tuna or Salmon roll.

Thai Restaurants

Only eight Thai residents are in town. Not all of them have a star rating above four stars, so make sure to read the reviews before selecting one. The Bees Knees on 10th Street have some great menu selections in a comfortable atmosphere.

The Chicken Pad Thai is great.

New Restaurants for Modern Eating

There are a few new restaurants in downtown Augusta, and they all have high ratings. Rasche's Island Soul on James Brown Blvd and Edgar's Above Broad, which serves tapas on Broad Street are the latest additions.

Lunch in Augusta (Also Dinner!)

Ten Augusta restaurants serve great lunches. We won't dissect the menus, but know that they are all 4.3 to 5 stars rating. They are California Dreaming, Metro Diner, Edgar's Grille, and Honey From The Rock Cafe, all on Washington Rd. Nutritious alternatives can be found at Finch and Fifth and The Solfood Kitchen, both on Highland Ave, Manuel's Bread Cafe in North Augusta, and — on Broad Street — there is Farmhaus Burger and Whiskey Bar Kitchen.

Kid-friendly Restaurants for the Family

You will find only a few family restaurants in Augusta. One of the newer restaurants, Edgar's Grille, which serves American fare in an upscale setting, tolerates children and even makes special accommodations.

They serve modern artisanal pizza, steaks, salads, and lunch. Part of their earnings goes to charity. Farmhaus is the most welcoming, and it's a hamburger restaurant on Broad St. Teresa's Mexican Restaurant is a popular choice in North Augusta that comes with a great kid's menu. 

If you're trying to find fun restaurants in Augusta for your family, the Boll Weevil Cafe and Sweetery is suitable for kids with a wide selection of desserts everyone will love. O'Charleys should top the list of family-friendly restaurants.

Nice Restaurants: Eat a Fancy Meal

There are many excellent downtown Augusta restaurants; here are a few of them. Frog Hollow Tavern offers New American fare and some Japanese on Broad St. Whiskey Bar Kitchen on Broad St. has fantastic steak dishes in a comfortable atmosphere. Beck's is a steakhouse on Kings Way where you can watch the chef whip up some of his specialties in a lovely setting. Austino's Italian Eatery and Prime Steaks is upscale and known for its certified Angus steaks and pasta bar lunches.

Romantic Restaurants

Divini Ristorante Italiano offers Italian and European plates in a sophisticated setting and excellent background music. Calvert's is French American fare in a cozy setting. The good is presented beautifully, and we would recommend every appetizer on the menu. Sheehan's Irish Pub serves good food in a great atmosphere for couples. Craft & Vine  provides excellent food and wine and nicely crafted cocktails. 

Cadwalladers Cafe is so indulgent and everything looks and tastes delicious. Try their Lumb Crab Cakes Salad with Mango Salsa. 

Abel Brown Southern Kitchen & Oyster Bar is also a top pick for romantic Augusta restaurants. It's very upscale and intimate, with private dining rooms.

Where Do Locals Eat In Augusta?

O’Charleys is very popular mainly because it provides a family environment and varied food options. The menu has both seafood and steak, which are the two favorites that side of town. The steakhouses and seafood restaurants do very well in Augusta. Any pub that serves steak and seafood will always be popular.
