Kansas City Mural Tour

ENCAPSULATING ALL THINGS KC

Article by Brittany Burdick

One of my favorite things about Kansas City is our love of art and supporting local. The city is completely decorated with graffiti and murals for everyone who comes into town to enjoy and get a sense of what KC is all about. I recently did a little mural tour of my favorite ones in the city and I wanted to share them with you! Some of them can be difficult to find so I hopped in my car and drove around with my eyes wide open looking for these little hidden gems. There are hundreds more, but I wanted to direct you all to some of my favorites!

1. Crafted in Kansas City

This is one of my all-time favorites and where we took our pregnancy announcement photos. Being on the side of the old Urban Provisions store, this mural is easily accessible for photos, but a lot of people do not know about it as it is off the beaten path down in East Bottoms.

Location: 2626 Guinotte Ave. Kansas City, MO

2. The Maker Mural

This one is not only aesthetically pleasing, it is also quite impressive to learn about how this mural came to life. With multiple artists and designers involved. It is a mural that encapsulates Kansas City. Another one that is a little off the beaten path. If you are driving on I35 by the Crossroads and look over to the West, you can find this little beauty peeking onto the Interstate.

Artists: Rif Raf Giraffe, Ami Ayers Harrington, Ocean & Sea, Karrie Dean, Flint & Field, Charlie Hustle, Ampersand Design Studio, Emily Reinhardt & Grace Cantril.

Location: 2601 Madison Ave. Kansas City, MO

3. Kansas City I’m So In Love

This mural could not be more perfect for engagement or wedding photos! But honestly, it could be for anything! I stood in front of it just because I love KC so darn much! This one is right on the edge of Crossroads painted on the Imagine That! building.

Artist: Ruthie Ozonoff

Location: 2010 McGee St, Kansas City, MO

4. I Love You Like a Summer Night

One of the cutest murals in town, this one is great for any photo op. It is colorful and fun, but this is a tricky one to find unless you are explicitly looking for it! Located on the backside of Messenger Coffee, you can find this little beauty down the back alley way. Another one that is perfect for engagement or wedding photos!

Artist: Abby Yemm

Location: 1624 Grand Blvd. Kansas City, MO

5. Red Friday

I don’t think I could make a list of KC murals without including a Chiefs one! We are all obsessed with the Chiefs so we obviously need a good backdrop for some Chiefs pride photos! This one is located in the heart of River Market.

Artist: JT Daniels

Location: 118 W. 5th St. Kansas City, MO

Grab your gal pals, family, buddies or boo and take yourselves on a KC mural tour. I only listed 5 here and there are hundreds more. What hidden gems can you find?!
