I have been skating almost every year at The Rink at Park Tavern and always looking forward to when it opens around Thanksgiving. The rink is inside a tent at Park Tavern, a great restaurant by Piedmont Park in Midtown Atlanta. Park Tavern knows how to get in the holiday spirit. What’s great about the rink is the decorations, the lights and holiday music. Skaters will stay warm under the heated Garden Tent, enjoy a state-of-the-art sound system, and an 85-foot-long and 40-foot-wide rink. They really make your believe that you’re transported from the South to a winter wonderland.

It really lightens any mood and makes you feel happy.

Go Skating!

While the rink is open to all ages, please keep in mind that the rink switches to skaters ages 16 and up from 8:30 p.m. to midnight. Be sure to plan accordingly. It is also perfect with a group of friends to have some fun. Bring your friends!

Skating lessons are offered if you wish to learn some skating techniques, and it is welcomed for all ages as well. I even had some skating sessions with great experienced skating coaches and became a better skater thanks to the pro coaches. I accelerated my skating prowess and became more confident on the ice over time. When you don’t have to hold on to the wall, that is the best feeling! I used to have to do that when I first skated, but thankfully I can skate without having to do that—and I can even stop!

Due to COVID-19, they are limiting the number of skaters on the ice at one time.

If you are looking to ice skate, rates for ice skating depends on the day, and it starts from $15 Monday to Thursday and $20 from Friday to Sunday. The hours of the rink goes from 4:30 p.m. to midnight from Monday to Friday and 11:30 a.m. to midnight on Saturday and Sunday. The rink is perfect for families with children.

Ice skating lessons offered

Every level of experience is welcomed whether you are a beginner, advanced or simply want to learn some skills. They have some great ice skating instructors who have great experience in skating where you can learn from them. How exciting! You can also get a one-on-one private skate session before the rink opens to the public if you do not wish to have skating lessons during public skating. Just let the skating coach know, and they will be happy to accommodate that for you.

Food & Brews

Adding to the overall fun is Park Tavern itself. The cozy restaurant, with a great bar, features a variety of food, drinks, beer, holiday cocktails and hot chocolate. You can’t go wrong with hot chocolate! We highly recommend the wings, salmon rice bowl, big bang shrimp tacos, of course, the burgers and sushi. Sit back next to one of the heaters and enjoy.

Park Tavern has a brewery of its own, including pilsner, ales and IPAs. If you are a beer lover, check out the beer on offer. You can even see the brewing machines that brew this great beer.

There is no better time to experience some holiday magic and get in the spirit of the season.
