CBD vs Hemp: And the Winner Is ….

Hemp. It is purer, richer and more potent than CBD. In other words, Hemp is the clear victor.

Here’s the reason:

CBD is just one extract of the Hemp plant. There are several ways to get this extract out of the plant, but they all involve processing and chemicals.

Whatever process is used, the outcome is the same. CBD has been ripped out of the potent Hemp plant, away from its sister elements: bioflavonoids, omegas, terpenes, cannabinoids, nutrients and minerals. Additionally, CBD contains leftover impurities as a result of the chemicals used for extraction.

Alternatively, our Hemp is made by pressing the entire power of the Hemp plant into an MCT oil (such as coconut oil) to maintain the entirety of the plant’s cellular structure and benefits. So you are getting the goodness of the whole plant, of which CBD is one part. Not only does this give you all of the health benefits of Hemp, but it also allows CBD to work as nature intended - as part of a whole.

In marketing and ads, CBD and Hemp are often used interchangeably. But that is misleading. While all Hemp has CBD, not all CBD offers the full array of cannabinoids in the Hemp plant.

(Note: Neither CBD or Hemp have the psychoactive ingredient that causes the “high” sensation. While it still offers many of the same curative properties, it won’t get you “high”.).

Because CBD is an extract, many manufacturers buy it already processed from the plant, often from overseas sellers. This means that many CBDs cannot be traced to their true origin.

So what does Hemp do?

Your body has something called an Endocannabinoid System, a nerve signaling network that is responsible for helping regulate inflammation and overall body balance. The endocannabinoids in Hemp help repair and boost the receptors in your internal Endocannabinoid System to reduce inflammation and bring you back into homeostasis. This is a critical function, as inflammation is a leading contributor to maladies such as disease, skin issues, joint pain and anxiety.

Additionally, as noted above, Hemp is rich with omegas, bioflavonoids, terpenes and other nutrients which have also been shown to contribute to the natural and healthy maintenance of your body and mind.

When working in tandem, all of this reduced inflammation and cellular health is the reason Hemps have been proven to help users achieve better sleep, reduced anxiety, and less pain. As an all-natural alternative to OTC pain relievers, this also helps explain why Hemp is often recommended for treatment of all manner of chronic conditions.

What’s the best way to take Hemp?

Because Hemp has such a wide range of benefits to body and mind, it is infused in many different kinds of products. While there is no one-size-fits-all explanation for what product is for what purpose, there are some general guidelines to help you make the right decision.

Ingestibles are products that allow you to swallow Hemp as either a capsule or tincture. This is the fastest way to get Hemp into your bloodstream and Endocannabinoid System. For this reason, people struggling with stress, sleep issues and chronic pain often prefer ingestibles.

Topicals are products that you apply Hemp to your skin, including lotions and balms, that apply direct localized benefits to your muscles and skin. This is why topicals are often the choice for people looking to heal skin conditions or muscle pain and tightness.

Typically, Hemp products are used in tandem for an “inside-out” treatment plan. This means users will apply topicals for external benefits, and take ingestibles for internal benefits. Additionally, Hemp can treat multiple issues at once meaning you can mix and match products.

Are all Hemps the same?

Just as there are differences in quality between Hemp and CBD, there are differences between Hemps.

Some of the things you should look for:

  • Hand-Pressed: The Hemp plant needs to be gently hand-pressed into an MCT so as not to ruin the cellular integrity and potency of its healing properties.

  • Certifications: State boards, agricultural commissions, ISO, and non-profit Hemp organizations are just some of the groups that certify the quality of Hemp. Any Hemp you buy should have more certifications than not.

  • Hemp Strain: As with vegetables and fruits, you should know how the plant is grown and where it comes from. Organic, local, and patented are as important with Hemp as they are with the foods you eat.

  • Experience: As an emerging industry, there are new players entering the Hemp market on a daily basis. In this shifting world, experience and trust is a huge differentiator.

  • Customer Satisfaction: The more testimonials, the more objective evidence of a Hemp’s efficacy.

As of this writing, the only Hemp company to meet the above standards is Synchronicity Hemp. With a patented Hemp plant, twenty years industry experience, the only Hand-Press process in the industry, plus the most certifications in the industry, and thousands of customer testimonials, if you are looking to explore whether or not Hemp will work for you, they are a trustworthy starting point.
