We’re talking with Tiffany Matthews, the January Fridge Educator of the Month!

What do you do at Bluemont Elementary?

I am the MTSS coordinator and an interventionist. I provide systematic and research-based instruction in ELA and math to students who need additional support. I also work with teachers to support them in a plethora of manners.

What is MTSS?

MTSS stands for multi-tiered system of supports. It is a framework we use to provide targeted instruction to support students that require additional needs.

Where are you from?

I am from Kansas City.

What brought you to Manhattan, Kansas?

K -State! When I went to school at K State, I met my husband there. We moved around a little bit, I got my Master's degree as a reading specialist, and then his position opened up in Manhattan. So, we moved here.

How long have you been at Bluemont Elementary?

This is my third year.

What do you love the most about Bluemont?

Bluemont provides a welcoming environment to all. It feels like a family, and we strive to do whatever it takes to ensure ALL students are getting what they need!

What do you hope for the future of children in Manhattan?

I want to instill confidence in our students that they can achieve and be successful to the best of their abilities. My hope is that they leave Bluemont feeling safe, valued and loved.

Congratulations to Tiffany Matthews, the January Fridge Educator of the Month!
