Jan. 20 is National Cheese Lover's Day, so it's only appropriate to indulge in some for yourself! While dishes that incorporate cheese are some of my favorite ways to enjoy it, this holiday calls for cheese in its purest form. The following bars and restaurants have fantastic cheese boards—many with locally produced selections—that are served with a variety of accoutrements, from nuts and fruit to olives and pickled veggies. Order a glass of wine and be sure to feast upon these cheese boards with your eyes first.

Ça Va

This quaint French wine bar in Westport is currently offering a cheese plate with cave-aged gouda from Marcoot Jersey Creamery in Greenville, Illinois; Coeur d'Sainte from Holy Goat Creamery in Manhattan, Kansas; and Prairie Tomme from Green Dirt Farm in Weston, Missouri. Order the charcuterie board featuring Casella's Prosciutto Speciale, pâté de campagne, chicken liver and foie gras terrine, pickles, whole grain mustard and Farm to Market rosemary loaf with a bottle of bubbles for a festive happy hour spread.

Tannin Wine Bar & Kitchen

In addition to its vast selection of wines from around the world, Tannin's menu includes a chef's selection of cheeses served with apricot mostarda, accoutrements and lavosh. Complete the spread with the charcuterie board with the chef's choice of cured meats, pickles, house-made chips.

Extra Virgin

Extra Virgin is known for its extensive menu of small plates, including a list of cheeses like manchego, camembert and gorgonzola. Your best bet? An assortment of four cheeses for $18 to go with your sangria.

Tavernonna

Tavernonna at the Hotel Phillips has a delicious selection of cheeses such as smoked blue, super aged goat and marinated Parmigiano. Choose from a variety of meat and cheese (3 for $15, 4 for $18 or 6 for $22) that comes with nuts, dried fruit, grilled bread and other accoutrements.
