A Home with Style

813 Trombley

A lovely, updated home in a desired location is the foundation of prime real estate, and the historic Tudor home for sale on Trombley Road in Grosse Pointe Park checks these boxes and many more. Built in 1929, it has all the charm of the original construction combined with every modern feature a homeowner today could desire.

"The current owner and the previous owners went to great lengths to maintain its original design while updating it," says Jaime Rae Turnbull of Higbie Maxon Agney. "The timbers on the exterior have been completely restored, and all of the original floors, leaded glass doors, stained glass, and plaster details have been meticulously maintained, keeping with the original architecture."

The magnificent and grand entryway leads to this over 5000 square foot, four bedroom, six bathroom home in the Windmill Pointe subdivision that sits on a rare double corner lot and boasts many unique features. "There are custom timber beams in the family room, and they are unique built-in cabinetry," she says. "There's also a cathedral ceiling with another beam in the primary suite, which I have never seen in a Grosse Pointe home." Completely renovated by the current owner, the primary bath is exceptionally luxurious and has a fantastic freestanding stone tub. A wood-paneled office is an excellent fit for even the highest-level executive.

"There is geothermal heating, so every floor is heated, and the natural light that comes into the house is quite remarkable," says Jaime. There are also multiple fireplaces throughout the home to keep everyone cozy and warm.

She adds, "There's also a charming screened-in porch that's perfect if the weather starts to turn and you want to watch a storm come in."

The main house overlooks the beautiful property with its thoughtful terraced landscaping, which incorporates the entire side lot into a cohesive resort-like feel within this very historic setting. Massive stones, which give the yard an additional level of fascination, had to be craned onto the property. This landscaping, which also provides a lot of privacy, actually won the Grosse Pointe Park Beautification Commission award, explains Jaime. Homeowners and guests will feel like they are in their very own private park.

The property has six-foot custom-iron fencing, which encircles an infinity pool surrounded by bluestone. It also has a fire pit, golf simulator, tea house, built-in barbecue, patio, and other gathering areas great for entertaining. The lovely pool house, built to match the home's architecture, has an entertainment space with a kitchenette and bar and a loft studio with a steam shower and half bath. The two-car garage has solar panels affixed to the roof for cost savings and ecological advantages.

Grosse Pointe Park incorporates private and municipal parks, waterfront access, and beautiful gardens. Homeowners have access to a fitness center, a private movie theater, a skating rink, a putting green, a kayak launch, tennis, pickleball, volleyball, playscapes, splash pads, and more.

"We also have a thriving business district, and we encourage people to patronize the businesses and see all the incredible things that the Park has to offer," says Jaime. "We're really proud of what has taken place. In the last decade, it has really come alive and has been a big draw, as has our proximity to Detroit. Many great things are happening in that city, too."

She says you don't have to go outside of Grosse Pointe Park and the area to truly experience great entertainment because everything's right there and accessible. "I think that's really important for people to know."

Jaime, who followed her mother, Kay Agney, into real estate, loves finding and filling a need. "Whether it be a first-time home buyer, a change in life, or downsizing, working with homeowners as their lives evolve is heartwarming," she says. "I'm lucky to have an opportunity to interact with people making significant decisions about their family, where they're going to live, and what kind of house they'll buy."

Grosse Pointe Park is not only a great place to live but also a real destination for fun and entertainment. It borders beautiful Lake St. Clair and the bustling and renowned city of Detroit, where dining, shopping, cultural events, and other interesting pursuits abound.
Within its 3.71 square miles, homeowners can enjoy a large private lakefront park with a pool, gym, movie theaters, gathering spaces, and more. At the foot of Three Mile Drive, another large park, Patterson Park, is popular with residents and visitors for its skating rink and walking trails.

Homes range from single and multi-family properties averaging over 3,000 square feet to multimillion-dollar mansions boasting scenic lakeshore views designed by notable architects. While offering many quiet and secluded lots, many shops, schools, and churches are conveniently located within walking distance of most residences. The Park even boasts its library branch - the Carolyn and Ted Ewald Memorial Library – operated by the Grosse Pointe Public Library.

Grosse Pointe Park also includes a large neighborhood on Windmill Pointe, the edge of which marks the entrance to the Detroit River and the end of Lake St. Clair. It’s a very desirable place to spend time with family and friends.
