NEW YEAR'S EVE WITH SOBAR

New Year’s Eve is usually a loud evening filled with music, concerts, shared drinks, and parties. We’d all spend some time reflecting on the past year and looking forward to the next, all while watching a huge crowd of people party outside in New York City, waiting for the ball to drop. While we’ll surely all still be celebrating the end of 2020, many of us won’t have the same opportunities to celebrate as we normally would.

Events have been hard to come by in 2020, as much has shifted. Indoor events are suddenly outdoors. In-person meetings are virtual. Finding a New Year’s party that’s more than just a video call might be a challenge. One non-profit organization based in Ellicott City, MD called Sobar™ has experienced a similar shift.

Sobar is where sober people and bars collide. Started in 2017 by Beth Harbinson, Sobar seeks to provide non-alcoholic beverages at events. Their mission is not only to give an option for those who choose not to or can’t drink, but also to rid society of the stigma of needing to drink to have fun. They create delicious and fun drinks at fairs and events, and they host a number of alcohol-free events of their own.

Sobar’s New Year’s Soiree last year was a smash hit - with bigger numbers than expected and rave reviews. This year, they are moving the party to houses and homes with their new Sobar-in-a-Box and their huge virtual event.

Starting at 8pm, any attendee can expect multiple activities including a DJ, trivia game, silent auction, and world-renowned live mentalist and magician Max Major, who you might know from the Quarter Finals of America’s Got Talent. He'll appear LIVE and engage and involve the audience getting everyone ready to make 2020 disappear. Party boxes are also available for purchase which include party hats and noisemakers, Sobar drinks (including non-alcoholic champagne for midnight), and the tools you’ll need for some of the activity rooms.

Sobar knows how to throw a party, so don’t miss getting in; they have a 300-person capacity! This New Year’s event is a cannot-miss. Order tickets on their website.
