Summer is in full force and for some people who are focusing on their health, it can feel really overwhelming.

How do you stay on track with your health goals? How do you still do the fun stuff you want without stressing?

Today, we are here to give you strategies for success!

Start your day off right.

A smoothie is a great way to get in a ton of veggies first thing. Make sure to also add in protein and fat. Also, don’t go overboard on fruit to balance your blood sugar and keep you full and satisfied, without a ravenous crash and binge one hour later.

Stay stocked.

Make sure you always have healthy food in your fridge, freezer and pantry. Cut up raw veggies so they are easy to grab and store in water to prolong the freshness. Store nuts and seeds in the freezer so they don’t go rancid. Store slightly ripe avocados in the fridge and they last forever! These all provide easy, quick snacks - even for on the go.

Meal plan.

You don’t have to do every day (and we encourage you not to), but having a few meals set each week sets you up for success. Make sure to look at the week ahead and see what you have going on to coordinate. Then it is always helpful to have ingredients in your fridge, freezer, and pantry. This will allow you to easily pull together meals like pasta, breakfast for dinner or tacos, when plans change or what you have planned doesn’t feel right.

Prep food.

Each week spend a little time setting yourself up for always having food around. Two things we always do are roast a big pan of veggies and potatoes and then boil some eggs for the fridge.

Keep your house the success zone.

Don’t buy stuff that will derail you, so you can enjoy your fun foods out and about without stressing. (Bonus: your kids won’t be asking you all day for snacks!)

Enjoy the moment.

You can live without food fear. Food fear is the fear of what one meal or treat day will do to your health. It's not the one meal that matters, it is the repeatable actions you take day after day that make the biggest impact.  Eat mindfully and savor the moment.

Drink water. Lots of it.

Drinking at least half your body weight in ounces is the minimum goal, but the summer heat takes a toll on our body and has us begging for more. If you get bored, add some fresh fruit or herbs to your water for extra flavor. Strawberry mint is a great combo!

Smart alcohol choices.

Skip the sugary drinks and mixers. Use flavored water as a mixer and always have water nearby to be drinking while you enjoy your cocktail.

Move your body.

Everyday! Even if it is a simple walk, make sure you are moving every day.

Prioritize sleep.

Summer nights have us begging to stay up, but getting the right quality AND quantity of sleep is vital to health. Going to sleep and waking at the same time every day sets our body’s circadian rhythm in place. Your circadian rhythm impacts your hormones, digestion, weight and so much more.

Bonus: live your life!

Doing fun things and not worrying is good for your mental health and physical health. Enjoy summer, even if it looks a little different this year.
