Whether you plan on selling your home in the near future or not, when you are getting a new roof installed or replacing an old roof, it is always smart to think ahead and make sure that whatever color roof that you get will make your house more attractive to potential buyers in the future.

Here at Georgia Roof Advisors, we will work with you to ensure that you get the dream roof you envision that is also still able to be sold in the future.

Where Do You Live?

This may seem like a silly question, but different areas affect the colors you typically see on roofs.

For example, the further north you go, the more cooler-toned roofs you will see, and the further south you go, the roofs are generally warmer-toned. Cool means bluer undertones and warm means redder undertones. So, if you are in Georgia, where Georgia Roof Advisors is located, you are more likely to have a warmer-toned roof color.

Not only is this because of aesthetics or “vibes” of these areas, but it is also to be the most efficient in terms of saving energy for your home. Lighter colored shingles typically keep homes cooler, and darker colored shingles absorb heat and make homes warmer, so keep that in mind.

What Is The Color Of Your Home?

This is likely not a surprise to you, but the color of your roof should pair well with the color of your home, otherwise your roof may end up looking too flashy and not be very sellable.

Here is a specific list of what color shingles go best with these color/styles of homes:

  • White: any color
  • If you have a white home, that means you really could go with any color! But, you should still select one within reason. Consider what is trending at the moment if you want to sell soon, and look at more timeless/classic options if you want to stay at your house for the foreseeable future.
  • Red/Brick: black or gray
  • Red is already a standout color on its own, so go for something more subtle, such as black or gray.
  • Cream/Taupe: Subtle hues of blue, black, or gray will complement your home nicely.
  • Wood: Black, green, gray, or brown won’t be too daunting to look at
  • Keep in mind that there are many different shades of wood, so the hues of the roof will depend on that.
  • Gray: Black, white, or gray shingles will look the best.
  • Gray is considered to be a little bit more of a bold choice, so choosing a bright color would be too distracting.
  • *If the color of your home isn’t listed, then you will definitely need a neutral colored roof, such as white, gray, or black.

In Summary

If the exterior of your home is not super flashy, you can try to make your home pop with a brighter colored roof, but most people don’t want to take that risk and should choose a neutral color for their roof.

Here at Georgia Roof Advisors, we have been in the roofing business for 13+ years, so we know what roofing colors are the best, and we know how important personal preferences are.
